For their match strategy, Lone had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. The visiting A. Lecroque didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. A. Madrid was, after 22 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper K. Luzuriaga made the save. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, J. Foley got himself booked. The manager of ctm was not happy. The crowd was amused as H. Kohlenhof of Lone used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by A. Böttiger wasn't very amusing, however, as the ball flew way over the crossbar. L. Malul did not have a good day today, often losing his footing on the muddy pitch. With the clock showing 44 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Lone resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by F. Ferranti in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. Halftime score was 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by ctm, with 73 percent of the ball.

After a short break after 68 minutes, ctm seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. With 68 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of Lone resulted in a counterattack that set L. Mucciarelli free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, L. Malul would have put ctm up another goal 76 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. Lone hit back on the counter attack 77 minutes into the game with a free kick. Initially it seemed wasted, hit wide towards the wing. But there was an idea to it - the ball was then crossed towards K. Wieser, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 1 - 1! Don't forget to thank the set pieces coach for that idea! After 77 minutes, the ctm coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving J. Foley off the field. E. Wodziński took his place. The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 78 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from H. Lecroque, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. L. Malul of ctm received a yellow card after 79 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. L. Malul came close to levelling the score 82 minutes into the game, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. Lone mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 83 minutes, but T. Bache was unable to convert from short range. After 84 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after E. Wodziński made it through the middle and struck home to make it 2 - 2. ctm enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 75 percent of possession.

The most dominating Lone player was without a doubt H. Lecroque. However, K. Luzuriaga made a disastrous appearance. ctm's top performer was clearly K. Nijo. R. Hassler turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 2 - 2.
