Clear skies welcomed the 26200 spectators who had made their way to Green Field Lane. Diego Fernández was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Serge Büsser and Fabião Dumont. Inky Green tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Almeida - Richmond, Tunde, Chorzelewski - Boddie, Bevan, Chaffard, Bleyen, Puelma - Rohail, Foreman.

Jol-lification had chosen a strategic 4-5-1 formation. The following players took the field: Ahmad - Hail, Zabre, MacDiarmond, Granger - Baker, Tellis, Deane, Landon, Malone - Treacher.

Inky Green clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could. Slack defending gave Inky Green a chance to take the lead with 13 minutes played, but L. Boddie's cross from the left flank was fumbled in front of the goal and easily dealt with by the opposition. With 24 minutes played, P. Hail of Jol-lification fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. Jol-lification took the lead after 27 minutes making the score 0 - 1. M. Baker placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. After a short break after 30 minutes, Jol-lification seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Jol-lification enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

The home crowd was not impressed when J. Zabre came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 62 minutes. Jol-lification were now up 0 - 2. After 64 minutes, M. Deane sent the corner kick right to M. Treacher who headed it sharply past the keeper. 0 - 3! Content with how the game was proceeding, the Jol-lification coach let T. Armour replace M. Ahmad after 64 minutes. After 64 minutes, the Jol-lification players received new instructions from their manager on how to keep in control of the game. M. Baker wanted to play on, but the Jol-lification coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 64 minutes into the game by M. Navarro. Inky Green needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 65 minutes R. Rohail made way for S. Raftery. The Inky Green coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 75 minutes into the match. M. Deane surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. Inky Green played a good counterattacking move down the left 76 minutes into the match, with G. Bleyen finishing well for 1 - 3. W. Tunde of Inky Green received a yellow card after 78 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Given a free kick close to the byline, Jol-lification tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let M. Treacher slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 1 - 4, 80 minutes into the game. 86 minutes into the game, Jol-lification had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. L. Boddie's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert E. Foreman was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Inky Green. 2 - 4. A drive down the left side allowed V. Malone to get in close and score another goal for Jol-lification after 87 minutes, taking the score to 2 - 5. Possession was split evenly between the teams.

J. Richmond performed admirably for Inky Green. W. Tunde turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Jol-lification player was without a doubt D. Tellis. M. Navarro was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 5.
