The 663 spectators at
The Blue Army Temple were in for an afternoon of sunshine.
Andre Reitan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Charles Revert and
Ricardo De Mateo.
BlueArmy had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation.
The following players had been chosen: Arisi - Van De Plas, Meersseman, Halsberghe, Walschaerts, Brutin - Corstjens, Wageman, Dave - Moneyn, Passot.
FAFA decided to use a 4-4-2 set up.
They fielded: Wiklund - Marele, Mullot, Santos-Suárez, Silvestre - Finnan, Feiferovas, Fernández de Córdoba, Maura - Garau, Villalpando.
FAFA were mostly trying to use their skill at attacking on the flanks.
Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 28 minutes into the match left FAFA's
L. Silvestre completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors.
With 29 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
B. Brutin needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed.
With 37 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
F. Villalpando of FAFA to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2.
A drive down the left side allowed
F. Villalpando to get in close and score another goal for FAFA after 38 minutes, taking the score to 0 - 3.
At this point, it was obvious that the players of FAFA lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented.
Halftime score was 0 - 3.
FAFA claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 51 percent.
After 52 minutes a well-practised indirect free kick routine by FAFA was easily anticipated by the defenders. The players forward were so well marked, they were left with few viable options.
As usual,
A. Passot tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all.
74 minutes into the game, BlueArmy seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to
wretched.
BlueArmy's
J. Dave had the ball at his feet in front of goal after a quickly taken free kick after 75 minutes, but was robbed of it in the blink of an eye by an onrushing defender.
A. Garau increased FAFA's lead to 0 - 4 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner.
H. Halsberghe acted foolishly after 83 minutes, giving the ball up to FAFA's
A. Garau who had no trouble finding the back of the net. 0 - 5.
FAFA were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
N. Finnan of FAFA took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 85 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 6.
FAFA enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.
Most important BlueArmy player was
M. Moneyn.
However,
A. Passot made a disastrous appearance.
FAFA's top performer was clearly
A. Garau.
On the other hand,
M. Marele's play was disheartening.
The match ends 0 - 6.
