The 1465 spectators at Temple Gardéen were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Toke Heyde was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Nicola Invernizzi and Kristian Løvelund. Garnier struck a 30 metre free kick home 40 minutes into the match. 4 - 1 for the home team. M. Touzet increased the lead for Sporting to 5 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! 5 - 1 was the score after the first half. Sporting had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Sporting coach let J. Pellat replace M. Touzet after 46 minutes. A bit later, Nielsens's C. Bank easily reduced the lead to 5 - 2 after a misunderstanding in the home side's central defence. M. Gandoura could have increased the lead after 51 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. As usual, O. Mathon tried to use his strength and hard work for the benefit of the team, but the heat hit him hard and he couldn't keep pace at all. Sporting increased the lead as O. Mathon struck to make the score 6 - 2 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Confident in their lead, Sporting's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The referee showed Sporting's M. Gandoura the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Nielsens fought on and, after 88 minutes, N. Steensen was able to reduce the deficit to 6 - 3 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Possession in this half belonged to Sporting, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

Sporting's top performer was clearly M. Gandoura. V. Martinez was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Nielsens player was without a doubt R. Bredal Nielsen. On the other hand, C. Langford's play was disheartening. The match ends 6 - 3.
