The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 38923 had shown up at
stade Marquentin for the match.
Dion Schoop was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Patrik Persson and
Jano Silveira.
Viking61-FC started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Lineup: Mingelen - Minev, Karer, Maccarone - Plummer, Biard, Guey, Ayerra, Decker - Condrea, Reitzel.
WSAFC had chosen a strategic 2-5-3 formation.
They fielded: Bron - Lukić, Nergård - Tavernelli, Wisman, Guénot, Sailer, Vlasák - Lévis, Deschamps, Deparis.
Pressing was the tactic of the day for Viking61-FC.
L. Tavernelli's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
D. Deschamps was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for WSAFC. 0 - 1.
The home crowd was not impressed when
L. Tavernelli came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 16 minutes. WSAFC were now up 0 - 2.
By now, the players in WSAFC felt that victory was guaranteed and began to play it safe, focusing on defence and not risking too much going forward.
With 31 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
T. Lévis of WSAFC to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3.
Viking61-FC's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends.
The WSAFC free kick 34 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
J. Lukić, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 4!
After 39 minutes, WSAFC's
A. Wisman burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 5.

W. Mingelen but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Viking61-FC needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 60 minutes
L. Plummer made way for
A. Žárský.

C. Guey was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 61 minutes.

W. Mingelen kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when
E. Nergård delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post.
Viking61-FC's
T. Minev got himself booked for a foul.
73 minutes into the game, WSAFC worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch.
After 74 minutes, WSAFC's
K. Guénot fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit!
The bench was restless, and with 86 minutes passed Viking61-FC's coach gave
F. Hoefsloot the opportunity the player had been hoping for.
M. Condrea reluctantly left the field.
WSAFC claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.
The most dominating Viking61-FC player was without a doubt
A. Espelid.
