previous 8/10 next 10/10  Security 1 - 4 Golden (393059805)

It had rained all day, but 45449 hardy fans still made it out to Sandy Bear Teague Memorial Park. Balázs Kávai was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Kurt Ye and Rodrigo Brigati. Security had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Renaux - Avagliano, Eskin, Helm, Poetscher, Anú - Zacarías, Voisin, Pulakka - Plais, Chee Nie.

Golden tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. The following players took the field: Faure - Damiani, Manfredi, Goehrke, Kongar - Garza, Garcia Neto, Perucchini, Byriel, Csepregi - Sidenskär.

For their match strategy, Security had decided to use their ability to counter-attack whenever possible. The wings were the focus of most of Golden's attacks today. Golden took the lead after 17 minutes making the score 0 - 1. G. Kongar placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. Golden came close to extending their lead as M. Csepregi delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 22 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. 25 minutes into the game, C. Damiani had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came R. Stokłos. R. Byriel was the new captain of Golden - handed the armband by the departing player. It was obvious that Golden had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. With 34 minutes played, Golden put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was M. Csepregi. S. Chee Nie slipped and slithered in the wet grass. His usual rapid runs were nowhere to be seen today. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from B. Manfredi after 38 minutes, and prevented Golden from going up another goal. Security's counterattack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision! L. Plais's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. Halftime score was 0 - 2. Golden had most of the ball, with 73 percent of possession.

Just a few inches to the right, and the visitors could have had a goal 47 minutes into the match. R. Byriel surely wishes he could do that free kick over again. 55 minutes into the game, Golden were awarded a penalty and R. Byriel was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 3 rolling the ball in by the right post. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Security's C. Helm was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 70 minutes. Y. Metsos was given a chance to change things around. The Security coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Security manager used a brief break in play after 70 minutes to give the players new directives. M. Avagliano didn't let the weather get him down and made some great moves on the pitch in spite of the rain. Security's M. Pulakka lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to Y. Metsos who finished for 1 - 3 with 74 minutes of the match played. Golden were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. Golden increased their lead after 84 minutes when B. Manfredi broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. Possession in this half belonged to Golden, who controlled the ball 76 percent of the time.

Most important Security player was Y. Metsos. On the other hand, M. Pulakka's play was disheartening. Golden's best player was M. Csepregi. R. Garza was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 4.
