Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and
Estadio da Cidade saw a crowd turnout of 1503.
Iago Colombo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Robin Rosbratt and
Paul Kjellmo.
Cidadão tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination.
The following players took the field: Toniollo - Leme Costa, Aranha, Índio - Martinez, Canela, Elli, Tetéu - Xereu, d'Andrade, García Sala.
HURRICANE started off with a 3-5-2 lineup.
Starters: Fossey - Couton, Spencer, Hyatt - Acquaroni, Nunes, Bruno, Thomas, Abellán - Mula, van der Lem.
Cidadão used their skill at pressing to cut off the attack angles of their opponents all over the field.
HURRICANE mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle.
HURRICANE's
P. Mula managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 10 minutes. 0 - 1.
A penalty was awarded after 32 minutes, and
P. Mula made the most of his chance to put HURRICANE up by another goal. 0 - 2 for the visitors.
HURRICANE players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead.
After 33 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
P. Mula a chance to increase the lead for HURRICANE, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 3.
By then
P. Mula had scored three goals - a hat trick!
After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
A. Aranha got himself booked. The manager of Cidadão was not happy.
L. Tetéu's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert
J. Xereu was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Cidadão. 1 - 3.
After 38 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
P. Mula who increased HURRICANE's lead to 1 - 4.
Cidadão's
L. Tetéu left the field after 40 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was
L. Veiga Lopes.
P. Mula came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
N. Toniollo but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
1 - 4 was the score after the first half.
HURRICANE claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
Content with how the game was proceeding, the HURRICANE coach let
I. Holst replace
L. Couton after 46 minutes.
J. Abellán left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 46 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead.
I. Deleval was the replacement.
T. Hyatt received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 49 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 5. The HURRICANE fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early.
After this, you could see that the players of HURRICANE were more interested in killing time than scoring more goals.
54 minutes into the match,
P. Mula came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide.
The visitors'
B. Acquaroni took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 55 minutes into the match. 1 - 6 for HURRICANE.
C. van der Lem wanted to play on, but the HURRICANE coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 65 minutes into the game by
K. Orlikowski.
After 67 minutes, HURRICANE's
T. Hyatt burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 7.
Cidadão's
N. Toniollo had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 71 minutes having been played.
G. Quoistiaux was the replacement.
O. Nunes increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 1 - 8.
HURRICANE's
P. Mula got himself booked for a foul.
Unfortunately for Cidadão,
D. Canela was injured when the game became more physical, and he had to leave the field.
M. Pfeilsdorff replaced him.
HURRICANE enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
M. Pfeilsdorff performed admirably for Cidadão.
However,
L. Índio made a disastrous appearance.
Most important HURRICANE player was
H. Bruno.
On the other hand,
V. Spencer's play was disheartening.
The match ends 1 - 8.
