previous 6/13 next 8/13  Maindove 1 - 2 Quadrifoglio (393824551)

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2035 at El Cucurucho today. Boris Pustynin was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Frank Bremer and Adriano Ferrara. A 2-5-3 alignment was the formation of choice for Maindove. Lineup: Elminger - Martusciello, Mosselmans - Calquinhas, Fagoaga, Warnet, Johannessen, Apateonidis - Condom, Collier, Lotka.

Quadrifoglio had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. Starters: Laskaris - Tomšić, Thomas, Folkes - Somalo, Angius, Mostert, Destrebecq - Wijks, Valdimarsson, Budkhuu.

The celebrations in the stands could only mean one thing - J. Calquinhas's free kick had found the back of the net and put Maindove ahead 1 - 0! P. Warnet of Maindove received a yellow card after 12 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Coming from the right, R. Fagoaga almost managed to score another goal for Maindove, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Maindove enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Maindove coach let A. Carvalho Mendes replace D. Elminger after 46 minutes. The Maindove coach was visibly pleased with the score so far, but still ordered a few tactical changes 50 minutes into the game. R. Fagoaga should probably have put his team up another goal after 53 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by R. Laskaris kept the visitors in the game. C. Angius tied the game at 1 - 1 after 70 minutes, when he converted an incredible pass from the right. Quadrifoglio's R. Wijks managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 78 minutes. 1 - 2. After 89 minutes, Maindove switched M. Lotka with S. Galli, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. Neither team were able to dominate possession this half.

R. Fagoaga performed admirably for Maindove. G. Collier was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Quadrifoglio player was without a doubt R. Wijks. C. Somalo on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 2.
