Giant killer

An interview with the Saint Evenage manager, the lowest ranked team left in the cup this week.

1 Your team, Saint Evenage FC, is facing Premiership side FC Nowhere Man in the cup on Tuesday. How does it feel?

Just like any other divison 5 team I never expected to get this far, it won't be the first time we have played a premier league team and as before we don't expect a win but will put up a fight.

2 What is your favourite tune at the moment, please also provide a link to vimeo/utube/soundcloud for us to listen?

Alt J "Breezblocks", my 3 year old loves it. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVeMiVU77wo)

3 You took over your team on 15/05/11 and you have never made it past R5 before, so it looks like you've started to make progress. How did you find hattrick, and what have you learned that might help other managers who also have young teams?

Think long term. Training is essential and, as I found out this season, the cup is a great way of earning some extra pennies.

4 How much is a pint of beer in your local & what's your usual tipple?

This afternoon whilst watching the rugby (well done England by the way) I was on the Carlsberg. Not sure how much a pint was though.

5 The England community voted in Darth Hansen to be our National Team manager. He's the first ever non-English based manager to ever get the job. Under his tenure England are currently amongst the top 4 in a tightly contested Group 5. Did you vote, and how do you think we'll do in this tournament?

I have been concentrating so much on the domestic season, the national squad has not really been on my radar. Yet!!!! But good luck to those involved and you never know, my wingers may one day be good enough???

6 What skill are you training at the moment and why?

Crossing (Winger). I've not yet changed training type since my first week playing hattrick. Having said that, I do expect to train something else over the next few seasons.

7 You currently don't pay for supporter, which is obviously no pre-requisite for success, but is it something you can envisage paying for in the future (please explain either way)?

I use tommatrick (http://www.tomattrick.org/) for additional 'assisting' information. I have thought about supporter but at the moment have not felt it necessary.

8 According to our internet research, St. Evenage is a posh way of referring to Stevenage. Are you just a posh manager from Hertfordshire, or is it that your team name bear no resemblance at all to your poshnicity?

We are a spin off from Stevenage, albeit an improvement. We took their money, everything precious to them, and of course their women. Then made them better. POSHER.

9 Tell us how you met your OH (or last 'conquest' if single)?

My wife is watching so best not say...

(they're always watching... ed.)

10 What was your favourite movie of 2013?

World war Z was pretty cool (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0816711/)
