HT Quarter final Press interview

A few words from Glencoe Rovers boss Fooster as they make the last 8 of the English cup for the first time in their history.

Your team, Glencoe Rovers, is facing Premiership side FC Nowhere Man in the quarter finals of the cup on Tuesday. This is the last round where you get home advantage, how does it feel to have got this far?

It feels like a real achievement to have come this far to be honest, especially as I think random hasn't played a part in any of our wins. The run has also seen us achieve our best ever hatstats rating and attendance figures along the way. The bank balance has been nicely boosted too which never hurts ;)

What is your favourite tune of 2014 so far, please also provide a link to vimeo/utube/soundcloud for us to listen?

Musically nothing new has really floated my boat yet this year and it's been more about re-discovering old favourites that I haven't listened to for a while. The two that have been top of my listening on the way to work have been

Radiohead with Reckoner (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPWvpDm076o)
and Noel Gallagher with Everybody's on the run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPeYmijW644)

You took over your team on 04/07/07 and you made it as far as R10 a couple of seasons ago, and got promoted into III last season. You play a lot of tournaments as well, and your team really looks to have turned a corner to become one of the top teams in England. What have you done to make the difference to help the team push forward over the last few seasons?

I certainly don't consider us to be one of the top teams in the country although it's lovely to see us referred to in those terms. I think our recent success is the result of a few seasons worth of continued training and actually sticking to a long term plan for once instead of constantly messing with the team by bringing youngsters in all the time. Several players have hit the height of what I can expect of them at the same time and the team is chugging along quite nicely.

How much is a pint of beer in your local & what's your usual tipple?

A pint at my local was £3.10 last time I went in. My usual choice is Jack Daniels though. As far as beer goes I went to Bruges last month (which i'd really recommend if anyone is thinking about going as it's a beautiful place) and got hooked on Brugse Zot (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Brugse_Zot_2012_091.JPG).

The England community voted in Darth Hansen to be our National Team manager. He's the first ever non-English based manager to ever get the job. Under his tenure England are currently top of Group 5, 1pt ahead of Italy with a 3pt cushion and a big GD advantage over Costa Rica (the best of the teams outside the Q2 qualification places). Did you vote, or follow the NT, and what do you make of this?

I did vote, and voted for Darth as I liked the no nonsense, straight forward attitude that came through in his answers during the elections. I've followed the NT off and on over the years I've played. I think my recent interest has been spurred by the inclusion of my midfielder Dean Napoli (280385228) in the England squad. At some point in the future I'd love to have a go at the England job but I'd have to get much more involved in the NT side of things first as I think there's quite a bit to learn before I'd be ready.

What skill are you training at the moment and why?

Playmaking. Firstly I still think midfield is king, not as much as it used to be but it's still key. Also as Dean Napoli needs to keep his PM up to stay in contention for the England squad, and my TDF Nappi (291981849) is a clear possibility for Italian NT selection if I can get his PM a level or two higher

You currently have platinum supporter, with a second team in sunny Angola. Your series (209699) contains 6 2nd teams (the others being a Finn, a Colombian, a Belgian, an Angolan local and another Englishman (Globbits)) Is platinum something you will continue to fund at the revised prices, and are you worried about the impact of the price hike on your 'fun' with your 2nd team?

I bought a long subscription for platinum, which is what lots of people did under the old owners, so I won't have to make that decision for a while. The price is certainly very high right now and I can see why a large number of people are annoyed by the increase - especially as it coincides with the HT's saying that game development will be limited for the foreseeable future. That said I'm still a HT addict so the fun I get from the game is much higher than a couple of playstation games a year.

According to our internet research, Glencoe is a dodgy builder in Swanley. Or, a Volcanic Glen & Mountain Ski resort on the shores of Loch Leven (on the wild west coast of Scotland - good place for a 2nd team I've heard), as well as a brand of Whiskey as depicted on your team page. Please tell us what inspired your team name selection and explain how you'd feel or react if a ban on alcohol advertising led to a removal of your logo under any corresponding change in 'appropriateness' rules?

The first flat I ever bought was in Glencoe Road nothing more inspired than that I'm afraid ! My team logo is inspired by the route of my morning run while I lived there, as I used to jog through fields where there were wild deer some of whom would get spooked as I came huffing and puffing along. They would run parallel to me to get across the fields and away from the sweaty mess that scared them. Being a bit of a nature nut it was awesome when that used to happen and would set me up for the day. I'd be gutted if I had to lose my logo, it's the only one that I've had for Glencoe, and it was designed for me by the very talented (ed. sadly, 'former') Swiss manager Delphinqueen.

Please tell us how you met your OH (or last 'conquest' if single), with any amusing anecdotals?

We met at work and I was appointed as her coach when she first started. I fell for her straight away and within 6 months we were living together. We got married last September and moved into our new 3 bed semi 3 weeks ago. I'm a very lucky bloke and extremely happy with my lot in life.

What was your favourite movie of 2013?

I just had to google films in 2013 as nothing sprang to mind! Out of the top 20 grossing films of last year I've only seen one of them, and that was the Hangover part 3.
In terms of films I watched last year but were released earlier the best ones were Sean Penn's "Into the Wild" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758758/), which instantly went into my top ten of all time, and Moon staring the superb Sam Rockwell (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/?ref_=nv_sr_3).

On a far less cool and much more embarrassing note I also loved WALL.E (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910970/) - Please feel free to judge me for it ;)
