Pacific Premiership Season 46 Preview

Oceanias top division is shaping up to be a brilliant season in season 46

Join Hattrick press as we follow the top Oceanian competition throughout the season.

Season 45 saw the promotion of DrLot and CandyPerfumeGirl, both managers have extensive prior premiership experience, both have won the top title and both have won the cup. As a result the total premiership season manager experience in the PP runs to a remarkable 38 seasons worth.

All of the managers this season have the blend of efficient economic management, well thought out teams with a tactical option or two, and of course the stubborn keep on trying mentality that is required to make it all the way to the top of this game. We expect that the 4th and the 6th spot will be just as hard fought as the top one.

Team by team review.

Waverly Hawks - andyhaggis
Titles : 3 PP, 2 oceania cup
late/offseason high level transfers : 6 (3 out, 3 in)
Cash on hand : 24m
Wages : 1.17m

Editors estimation : still the title favourite. Has the team and the money to chase the title and the cup, might get stretched chasing both, which opens the door for the other contenders. Would require an ignomious early cup exit and subsequent ts difficulties to dislodge from the top 4.

Arms and Legs - armsandlegs
Titles : nil
late/offseason high level transfers : 1 (1 in)
Cash on hand : 35m
Wages : 1.05m

Editors estimation : Great season last year, and finances available to take advantage of any cracks in the Hawks campaign. Probably hard to dislodge from the top 4.

Mofs Utd - In-Tuo
Titles : 1 oceania cup
late/offseason high level transfers : 5 (3 out, 2 in)
Cash on hand : 8m
Wages : 1.05m

Editors estimation : Success in the cup last season, might see critical focus transferred to the PP this season. Again hard to see being dislodged from the top 4.

Mangrove Mariners - kab08
Titles : nil
late/offseason high level transfers : 3 (1 in, 2 out)
Cash on hand : 5m
Wages : 913k

Editors estimation : kab08 seemed to have a hand on the controls late last season with a quality purchase and important wins over the hawks and then the other relegation zone clubs, which kept the mariners out of the relegation zone. Can't help feeling that alone will not be enough to stay 4th this season, and that its a worrying season for kab08.

Woburn Warriors - Uh Ah Umaga
Titles : nil
late/offseason high level transfers : 1 (1 in)
Cash on hand : 28m
Wages : 816k

Editors estimation : Playing a high tsi/low wage/big secondaries team, had a poor second half to last season. One problem with finishing out a season poorly is that you often then go and start the next one in a similar condition. Has the money to turn it around even if the team is still performing poorly, but will the manager crack open the bank account ?

Shire Megalomaniacs - GM-Jebbyc
Titles : 1 oceania cup
late/offseason high level transfers : nil
Cash on hand : 6m
Wages : 664k

Editors estimation : Relegation looms, doesn't have a lot of cash, the key players are all approaching 1 season too old and losing skills, and Jebbyc is a little burned out as well as having extra responsibilities as a GM. The team will function effectively in II, and may make more crowd money there, so the plan may well be to drop gracefully.

Candy - CandyPerfumeGirl

Titles : 1 PP, 1 oceania cup
late/offseason high level transfers : 1 (1 in)
Cash on hand : 1m
Wages : 986k

Editors estimation : A club that I think puts a strong case for knocking teams out of the top 4. Cash on hand is probably misleading, as I expect there is a saleable player in the club right now.

Bondi 1893 - DrLot

Titles : 4 PP, 3 cup
late/offseason high level transfers : 8 (5 in, 3 out)
Cash on hand : 6m
Wages : 981k

Editors estimation : Whilst DrLot has claimed to make 1 transfer, reality is that the team has been transformed towards the end of the season, and also there are extra funds on players that can/will be sold. Prior to having a look, my initial feeling was that Candy would make the running out of the two promotees, but realistically I think Bondi is prepared for the season and has the resources to force the issue if needs be.
