Interview ahead of R6

Q&A with Tradingfire the manager of Longshots specialists, Chesham United, the lowest ranked team left in the cup.

Your team, Chesham United knocked out Premiership new boys The Boondocks in the last round (R5) (540446766). You are playing a 5-5-0 formation using the longshots tactic. You must be delighted?

Considering the quality they have in defence I decided that our best chance was to sit back and shoot on sight when the opportunity arose. We have a few lads that frequently rocket them in from distance on the training pitch so I told them to go out there and show everyone what you can do. Luckily it paid off and everyone from the Chairman to the tea lady is delighted.

You took charge of your team on 20th January 2013 (s51) and you've bettered your best ever cup performance R4 last season (s58). As a relatively new manager, what made you decide to build a longshots team?

I wanted to do something different. It was either this or a counter attacking team and so far going with long shots has paid off. Things will only get better from here.

If you have a favourite tune from 2015, please provide a link to vimeo/utube/soundcloud for us to listen, but an older classic tune would be fine too.

I tend not to listen to the radio these days so I will have to go for the only song I can sing at karaoke:

If a fan wanted to buy you a pint, which pub or bar would it be easiest to find you in, and what's your poison?

George and Dragon in Chesham. Jack Daniels.

What do you think about the proposed changes to the match engine starting next season, with scoring on playmakers and playmaking on normal forwards now becoming skills that will increase ratings?

I am curious to see how it all plays out. It seems like it will be a good thing for me and my team seeing as they are already accomplished at scoring throughout.

Please provide a link to your favourite work of art?

This man is the greatest artist ever to grace a football pitch

You manager page states that you support Brentford, a team that finished 5th in The Championship last season. Two late goals on Saturday rescued a home point against Ipswich, so I guess it will be quite a battle to get promoted this season?

The Championship is always a battle and possibly the hardest league in England. All the teams can hurt each other and the little guys have to battle with the big fish who have just come down with their parachute payments. Some would say we punched well above our weight last season by reaching the playoffs but most who saw us play said we played some of the best football in the division. A mid table finish would be good enough for me.

Please tell us how/where you met your other half (or last conquest), and how he/she feels about your hattrick addiction?

I met her in a bar in London a few years before taking over at The Meadow. She had no idea who I was and that suited me fine as it meant she bought her own drinks. She is fine with me getting some Hattrick in here and there as it enables her to do her own thing.

Chesham is a pretty little market town in the Chilterns (much prettier than Brentford anyway). What local attractions would you recommend for any visitors to the area?

Apart from the legendary Meadow where we play there is the Elgiva theatre (http://www.elgiva.com/slideshow/slides/elgiva_header.jpg) and quite a few pubs but nowhere near as many as there used to be. Griffin Park may have had a pub on all corners but Chesham as a whole had a pub on every corner and many in-between.

What was your first car (or bike) and what happened to it?

I don't drive so I will have to say my Claude Butler bike (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTc2WDEwMjQ=/z/uxQAAOSwNSxVbjjM/$_86.JPG) from when I was younger. I jumped over a steep incline and on landing the seat snapped off and the pole stabbed me where the sun don't shine. You can say that put me off cycling for life from then on. It ended up rotting in the shed.
