Interview with the double, double winner

Last Sunday was a matchday to remember. Bramante's Scimitars (2021588), currently Saudi Arabias top team, won the Al Dawry Al Momtaz championship their second time in a heartbeating final. They needed to win by minimum two goals and they did it on the point. So, one of the closest series ever, was decided by only one goal difference.
It was also the second time after season 37 they made the double, winning the Saudi Arabia cup as well. We want to look behind the scenes of this team and get to know some secrets of the managers way to success. Please enjoy the interview with Vanagor (10551469).

- Could you please introduce yourself?

I'm Vanagor, an Italian hattrick manager at his second experience on hattrick. I have a first team in Italy completely homemade (no transfers) and a second team here, in Saudi Arabia, about which we're talking about. I'm a 25 software engineer in real life.

- Why did you choose this country? Are you connected to it somehow (RL or HT)?

Not really, at least at the beginning, if I have to be honest. I chose it because I wanted a second HT-match on Sunday and the hours was good. Little later, I got involved in the community and get to knew the managers playing here, in some cases becoming friend with them.

- Tell us about your team. How did you put it together and what was the most important for you?

I wanted to put together a team that could be competitive since the foundation. My goal was winning titles since the first season I got the opportunity: building a All-Offense team with little expense I had the luck to win the Cup at my first participation. In 3 seasons I had climbed all the ladder and I promoted in Al Dawry Al Momtaz. When you have few resources, the only way you can compete with stronger and richer teams is pointing all you have on the midfield and exploiting the home advantage when possible: that's how I obtained my first successes.

- How do you deal with your expenses? Training, trading or just hoarded money from the past?

I never hoarded and I'll never do it. I find it a sort of distortion of the game and the day I'll stop competing I'll stop playing hattrick as well. I did instead a little trading, but nothing serious, mainly seasonal trading. The trick for me is buying players at prices lower than their real value, using them for 1/2 seasons, few times 3, and try to sell them without losing money. That was easier when I didn't have to buy top players to stay at the very top as now. Top players tend to lose value quite quickly, while among players "just-a-step-below" you can find more occasions.

- What motivates you to continue in Hattrick after that big success?

It's anyhow fun :). Till my supporter will last I'll stay and try my luck in Al Dawry Al Momtaz, the Cup and Hattrick Masters.

- Who is the favourite player you own at the moment and why?

Marvin Tiendarie (336387307). He is the biggest investment in the club history (almost 5 mio) and probably the strongest player I have now. He's a national player and an amazing Technical Defensive Forward.

- Do you intend to lead the NT or the U-20 one day?

I really wanted to do it in the past, but after having tried a couple of times being beaten in both occasions by the local "national-team estabilishment" I lost interest and now I don't think I'll try again. Saudi Arabia national teams are leaded since many real life years (an eternity) by the same 3-4 people that frankly achieved really little in such a huge amount of time, but as the community is not really interested in the national teams elections and daily life things are not likely to change, I guess.

- Which team(s) do you see as your biggest rival next season and in the future in Saudi Arabia?

In the last three seasons my main rival has been and is Hasbahce (11093251) and his Niğde Spor Kulübü. I see him as my biggest opponent for the upcoming seasons too. Obviously there are also other strong teams in Al Dawry Al Momtaz, such as Al Hilal and Als Golets, but I think mine and Hasbahce's team are a little step above at the moment.

- This was your fifth season in Al Dawry Al Momtaz. How has live changed up there in this time? How close together are the teams now and back then? Do you think the quality has improved?

Quality has certainly improved: the hatstats-bar to win the national competitions has countinously raised since the moment I arrived in the top-league, and this is good because I think that a competitive environment means more fun for everybody. On the other hand, I miss my first historical rival sporty (8012172) and his Riyadh Warriors, that is still the team with most titles here but now has taken some time from the game, to rebuild the squad, and also active and funny managers like Alcoaman, that made top league more intercative and enjoyable.

And I think for now this is all :)

- Thank you for your time
