Part Two: (The Homegrown Plan)

Part Two: (The Homegrown Plan)

In the first part of my article I discussed some ideas and processes to begin setting up your own homegrown plan. (15104). In this update I will show the power of this plan by projecting out the future skills of the players I described in the first article. With the help of some number crunching and HT Spain (http://www.htspain.es/index.php?pag=train_calc) we can see how quickly we can take even mediocre players and turn them into HT Super Stars!

Starting players promoted from YA to Seniors in about a 10 week span:

This is the group of players I started with for this plan:

[th align=center]Schmidt (te)[/th]
Mistfits Youth Players:
NameRider (he)Cornish (un)
DEF434
PM767
Pass542
W764
SP235
NameElamJacksonJones (qu)
DEF246
PM554
Pass344
W644
SP214
NameIsomDraper (po)*Lodwick (po)*
DEF477
PM626
Pass424
W675
SP234

*last 2 with the asterisk after their name are the ones I purchased.

Good mix of players with some good specs but not superstar players by any stretch.. except Rider :D

Seasons One and Two:

For the first 2 seasons I will train these guys in Defending (28 weeks) and Short Passes off sesaon (4 weeks) and they end up looking like this:

After Seasons 1 & 2
Players ~19 yrs old

[th align=center]Schmidt (te)[/th]
NameRider (he)Cornish (un)
DEF10.4610.210.46
PM767
Pass6.585.924.92
W764
SP235
NameElamJacksonJones (qu)
DEF10.0310.4611.17
PM554
Pass5.385.925.92
W644
SP214
NameIsomDraper (po)*Lodwick (po)*
DEF10.4611.6411.64
PM626
Pass5.925.925.92
W675
SP234

These guys are getting pretty sexy only after 2 season of training and you can see them start to take shape.

Seasons Three, Four, and Five:

At this point of my plan I decided that I will start to need more skill in my midfield so I will change up my training to 50% DEF (7weeks) and 50% PM training(7 weeks) per season. When training PM I only have 6 - 100% training slots and 4 - 50% slots to work with so this is the time when I need to make the decision as to who will end up playing where and give the appropriate training too. This will give me some flexibility in formations and allow me to surprise some opponents with different looks.

100% training to Rider - Cornish - Schmidt - Elam - Isom - Lodwick
50% slots to Jackson - Jones - Draper - I will likely pick up a forward here that could use a little PM on him to fill out the last spot.. unless of course I can pull a YA that could use a little training here.

I will continue to do this training for 3 seasons. 1 off season training will be short passes and 2 will be set pieces to help improve my SE game.

3 seasons will add 21 weeks DEF + 21 weeks PM + 2 weeks short passes + 4 weeks SP

After Seasons 3, 4 & 5:
Players ~22 yrs. old

[th align=center]Schmidt (te)[/th]
NameRider (he)Cornish (un)
DEF12.9412.7412.94
PM11.0910.5711.09
Pass7.26.625.78
W764
SP679
NameElamJacksonJones (qu)
DEF12.6412.9413.47
PM10.159.59.1
Pass6.166.626.62
W644
SP658
NameIsomDraper (po)*Lodwick (po)*
DEF12.9413.8613.86
PM10.578.610.57
Pass6.626.626.62
W675
SP678

After season five it is interesting how the PM is quickly gaining ground on the DEF skills for those guys training it 100%.

Season Six:
At this point I think it is time to add some wing skill to these guy so with 4 spots available for 100% training and 4 spots available for 50% training another decision will have to be made.

100% training to Rider - Cornish - Isom and Draper
50% training to Elam - Jackson - Jones - Lodwick
Season six will have me training 14 weeks of Crossing (winger) + 2 weeks of passing in the off season.

After Season 6:
Players ~23 yrs. old

[th align=center]Schmidt (te)[/th]
NameRider (he)Cornish (un)
DEF12.9412.7412.94
PM11.0910.5711.09
Pass7.717.186.45
W10.410.47.5
SP679
NameElamJacksonJones (qu)
DEF12.6412.9413.47
PM10.159.59.1
Pass6.777.187.18
W8.587.57.5
SP658
NameIsomDraper (po)*Lodwick (po)*
DEF12.9413.8613.86
PM10.578.610.57
Pass7.187.187.18
W10.487.99
SP678

So after 6 seasons these guys are looking rather killer in my mind especially when you take into account their 1.0-1.5 loyalty bonus. This is as far as I will take this exercise for the time being as there are too many variables involved to do a good job of projection.

That being said I now have all of my players with their loyalty bonus ranging from:
Defending: 14.1-14.9
PM: 9.6-12.6
Passing: 7.9-8.6
Wing: 9-11.9
SP: 5.5-10.5

Future Plans:
These guys realistically have 3-4 more seasons (to 26-27 yrs old) of training available to them before they are just too old to justify training. Some evaluation will need to be done at this point. I could easily continue to train all 3 skills (DEF - PM & Wing) and continue to grow their skills or I could chose one and make some super wingers, defenders or Inner-midfielders.. the choices are endless.

Conclusion:

In all I think the benefit of doing planning like this is to keep yourself interested and engaged in the game. As you might have guessed I am pretty jacked up about the possibilities for my team going forward. I know there will be stumbling blocks to overcome in this but it gives me a good platform to start from.

So go start your Homegrown plan today! If you want even more information go and join a federation like Grow Your Own (GYO) (92076) and get ideas and research on the power of a Homegrown Plan!
