10-7-2023 Always a bridesmaid, never the bride as the saying goes
It’s the end of the season and it’s time to conclude what happened. Santa Cruz finished second in the series and it was the 4th time in the short history of the club that the ultimate prize was again unattainable. Out of those 4 times it was the 2nd time that series victory was decided by goal aggregate and again it wasn’t favourable for our guys in blue and white stripes. As disappointing that is the good thing is of course the continuum of finishing near the top of the table which is always a very good thing.
Obviously winning it all is the only real goal of any sports team and in that regard the season was yet another disappointment but in grand scheme of things finishing 2nd brings decent return in prize money so the development of the club continues on schedule. Old guard takes a step behind and lets the younger players to take the center stage at this point.. Next season is still clouded with mystery but in the blue hearts of Santa Cruz there’s always that hope of making it #1
