Lineup: Bussmann - Rease, Frosio, Aguirre - Kessinger, Vashkevich, Karatay, Štornik - Thöny, Tumiati.

The following players had been chosen: Nevola - Izzi, Şerbănescu, Bottiglieri - Feliciello, Bonandini, Meduri, Paleari, Saccardo - Ghiron, Bellinvia.

S.C. Jiul Petrosani fielded a 3-4-2 lineup. For dm001, the formation of choice was 3-5-2. Many thought Raffaele Tumiati ought to have been awarded a penalty 16 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Augusto 'Saracinesca' Nevola after a determined run through the middle. Petrosani had a good opportunity to take the lead as Mikhail Vashkevich came up the left side, but he struck the ball weakly and it went straight into the arms of Augusto 'Saracinesca' Nevola. Proving his experience, David Ghiron scored 0 - 1 for dm001 after putting some pressure on the opposing defence at a critical moment. Mikhail Vashkevich showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 37 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. 39 minutes into the game, Petrosani had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to passable. Gianluca Feliciello of dm001 received a yellow card after 40 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. 41 minutes into the game, Petrosani seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. dm001 had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that Petrosani had solid organisation. A lovely run by Petrosani's Dule Štornik left his markers for dead and should have resulted in a goal, but the finish went just wide. 59 minutes into the game, Petrosani seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. After 63 minutes, the dm001 coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Giancarlo Meduri off the field. Maurizio Noja took his place. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 64 minutes allowed Manlio Saccardo to score for dm001. The scoreboard now read 1 - 2. Content with how the game was proceeding, the dm001 coach let Tommaso Gasparroni replace Marian Şerbănescu after 72 minutes. Gianluca Feliciello left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 75 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Brisko Glindmeyer was the replacement. dm001's Gian Franco Bonandini made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 78 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. Santo Frosio got left behind when dm001's Norberto Bellinvia left scorch marks in the turf 80 minutes, finishing off with a blisteringly swift strike. 1-3! 82 minutes into the game, dm001 worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. With the scoreboard clock showing 84 minutes, the inexperienced dm001 team fell into disarray. The match ends 1 - 3. dm001 claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 53 percent.

The most dominating Petrosani player was without a doubt Dario Bussmann. Bill Rease was a disappointment, however. Gian Franco Bonandini performed admirably for dm001. Attilio Bottiglieri turned in a dismal performance, however.
