Göztepe 7 - 0 TWI

Due to the fairly good weather for football today, 233 spectators have come down to Gürsel Aksel. The lucky starting players: Öner - Gözay, Berat - Seha, Kunt, Ulus, Mürsel, Atak - Ethem, Özaras, Kartay.

The boys who got to play today were: Kelder - Waas - Oostveen, Snooijink, Marbus, Huiberts, Albrink - Bekker, Bloemendal, de Waard.

Göztepe PAF started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Twickeltjes lined up in a 1-5-3 formation. Göztepe took a creative approach on the field. TWI displayed their ability to play creatively. TWI appeared uncertain how to play and their organisation was only poor. Bahtiyar Ethem's name was on everyone's lips after his goal 6 minutes into the game. It was a combination through the middle putting Göztepe ahead 1 - 0. Özün Seha had understood the importance to use the full width of the field, and managed to bypass the opposing defenders easily. His fine pass reached Zeki Mürsel, who was unable to score. After 11 minutes of the match had been played, the visitors defenders misjudged the movements of Göztepe's Ulaş Atak through the middle, leaving him one on one with the keeper. He pulled the trigger and the score was 2 - 0. Göztepe had a great opportunity after 18 minutes as Zeki Mürsel found a gap in the defence, and the goalkeeper standing off his line. His lob sailed slowly towards the top corner, but it drifted onto the crossbar and bounced out of play. Bahtiyar Ethem increased Göztepe's lead to 3 - 0, smashing in a cross from the right. Göztepe congratulated themselves after the 4 - 0 goal, which meant they had increased their lead. Ali Kartay came running from the right side and did not stop until he was standing inside the goal with the ball. 4 - 0 was the score after the first half. Göztepe pleased their coach greatly, as they maintained 60 percent of possession.

TWI's coach repeated the basics of football tactics during the break, which helped his players achieve passable organisation afterwards. Göztepe's Ali Kartay was the happiest boy in town after the 5 - 0 goal, having seen his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net. The assist had come in from a mate out on the right wing. Göztepe extended their lead to 6 - 0. The boy of the moment was Cemalettin Ulus, who protected the ball well as he jinked in from the left side to find space for the finish. Göztepe's Bahtiyar Ethem blocked one attack after another by TWI, finally picking the ball up for himself and powering through towards the goal. Unfortunately, his finish was not as impressive as the physical play that got him the chance. TWI's Steyn Oostveen had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded by the opposition. He managed to break free and send the ball to Tristan Bekker who flipped the ball wide. Bahtiyar Ethem could have put Göztepe up one more, but he got stuck on his way towards the goal from the left after 79 minutes. Did someone forget the pre-match briefing today? The TWI lads didn't seem to have a clue what to do, and their organisation level dropped to weak. 85 minutes into the game, Göztepe scored again. Ali Kartay had picked up a stray ball, entered the box from the left, and then coolly rounded the goalkeeper for the 7 - 0 goal. Ali Kartay was jumping for joy as he was noted down for a hat trick. At the final whistle, the score is 7 - 0. Göztepe, bringing their ball possession to 55 percent, seemed most ambitious today.

The spectators agreed that the most impressive boy in Göztepe today had been Bahtiyar Ethem. Kerem Gözay showed he still has a lot to learn. Wijnand Huiberts performed especially well for TWI - this one could be a candidate for the senior squad one day. Alwin Waas left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team.
