YB1912 2 - 3 FC TOP

A brilliantly sunny day had enticed more people than usual to see the game. One club official counted 28 people along the sidelines of Boys stadium. It was a very hot day and some players suffered from this, especially those relying on tough physical play or a lot of fast runs. For the technical ones, on the other hand, this was ideal conditions. The boys who got to play today were: Livadhi - Pandev, Gugulevski, Jovchevski, Kaziaj - Bogatinov, Stamenkoski, Organdziev - Gjoreski, Agalliu, Shalcanji.

Starters: Xholi - Mijovski, Bubakjovski, Chadikoski, Lazareski - Dameski, Angelov, Zhurevski, Shpataraku - Lozanoski, Jovanovski.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-3-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 4-4-2. The wings were the focus of most of YB1912's attacks on this day. YB1912 almost scored after a swift counterattack 4 minutes into the game, but Simo Gugulevski put the shot from the left flank just outside the goal. Siljan Organdziev had the chance to put YB1912 ahead after 13 minutes, but the free kick went just wide. Lacking experience with the current tactics, the players of YB1912 kept running into each other on the pitch. They only managed a passable level of organisation. YB1912 almost seemed to have a working tactic this day, purposefully working their way up the right of the field with passes and clever runs. After 19 minutes, Ivo Gjoreski got the opening he needed, overtaking an off-balance defender and sealing the 1 - 0 goal for the lead. With 23 minutes gone, the visitors evened the score after an attack down the middle. Zhivko Mijovski entered the box undetected and was able to steer in the goal to make it 1 - 1 at the keeper's far post. 1 - 1 was the score after 45 minutes. FC TOP pleased their coach greatly, as they maintained 56 percent of possession.

YB1912's coach repeated the basics of football tactics during the break, which helped his players achieve solid organisation afterwards. After 56 minutes, FC TOP sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Kostadin Zhurevski, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot and score the 1 - 2 goal. FC TOP's Toni Angelov was shown a yellow card after 57 minutes for using his elbow in an aerial duel with an opposing player. YB1912 appeared uncertain how to play and their organisation was only weak. Emil Jovanovski could have extended his team's lead in the 75:th minute, but his ambitious left side rush didn't help much since it was finished off by a lame cross to the keeper. Siljan Organdziev was just a finger's breadth away from an equaliser for YB1912, but Ivan Xholi managed to deflect the shot from the right hand side of the penalty box out for a corner. Was that intentional or not? In any case, that cross pass from YB1912's Dobre Pandev opened up the defence and Klaus Shalcanji had no problem guiding the ball into an open net. 2 - 2. The FC TOP free kick 89 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But there was an idea to it - the misdirected ball was turned into a cross towards Gogo Lozanoski, who was waiting for it in the box. That's 2 - 3! Don't forget to thank the assistant coach for that gem of a routine! It was obvious that YB1912 had instructions to attack on the wings when they choose to attack on the wing instead of in the middle. The match ends 2 - 3. This half the FC TOP boys hung on to the ball, with 59 percent of possession.

The spectators agreed that the most impressive boy in YB1912 today had been Fluturim Agalliu. On the other hand, Leo Jovchevski's performance hadn't been very good at all. The coach of FC TOP was especially pleased with Emil Jovanovski after the game. Zhivko Mijovski left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team.
