Inferno 3 - 0 ASM

Due to the fairly good weather for football today, 189 spectators have come down to Kids Inferno. The picks for today were: Bullens - Dall'Igna, Brion - Soares, De Rouck, Beyaert, Vandenhouwe, Lanssens - Saint-Martin, Olivier, Braeckeveldt.

The coach fielded the following talents: Guennec - Robinot, Beaufils, Monnier, Pacheco, Bouhelier - Granier, Nguyen, Richardeau - Guillemot, Ronsin.

InfernoKids fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For AS METARE, the formation of choice was 5-3-2. ASM took a creative approach on the field. The spectators saw a great chance for Inferno to take the lead after 17 minutes as a good cross from the right found Elvis De Rouck alone with the keeper, but he showed his nerves as his chip flew past the wrong side of the post. Good work by ASM's defensive line produced a couple of good counterattack chances, one of which found Rémy Granier alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. Inferno has a few interesting new players, and Lamberto Dall'Igna is one of them. Following a chip in from the left side, he hammered the ball straight into the arms of Pascal Guennec. Inferno's opponents had heard about Pierre-Alexandre Saint-Martin winning his school's 100m sprint, so they kept an eye on him. It didn't seem to help though - he breezed past the defence after 36 minutes, and his attempt on goal was only stopped from going in by a reflex stop by the keeper! Given a free kick in a difficult position after 43 minutes, Inferno did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender, Tuur Braeckeveldt could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 1 - 0, real proof that it can pay off to come prepared. 44 minutes into the game, Inferno's Dimi Lanssens rolled over in pain after taking a forceful blow to his upper chest. After bandaging his collarbone, the medics led him off the field. Kevin Sternal had already been warming up, and came on for Dimi Lanssens. After being named the new captain of Inferno, Gérard Brion rushed over to his mother to have his picture taken. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Inferno, bringing their ball possession to 72 percent, seemed most ambitious today.

Pascal Guennec was caught napping as Mathis Vandenhouwe lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, and the keeper could reach out for it. The Inferno youngsters looked rather smug following the 2 - 0 goal, which came about after a left side attack. Giliano Beyaert stuffed it in after around 66 minutes of the match. After 73 minutes, ASM's Éric Beaufils received a yellow card after ignoring the referee's order to tuck his shirt inside his shorts. After 77 minutes, Inferno's Gilbert Olivier stumbled on a pass intended for the opposing goalie. Thinking quickly, he flipped it in, making the score 3 - 0. With youthful energy, Inferno's Pierre-Alexandre Saint-Martin sped past Kévin Bouhelier in minute 78 and made a decent finish, but it was blocked. ASM needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 87 minutes Allan Ronsin made way for Jean Dusserre. The match ends 3 - 0. Inferno didn't seem to want to give the ball away in this half, which resulted in 72 percent of the possession.

The Inferno players gave Kevin Sternal a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". Mathis Vandenhouwe left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team. Axel Guillemot performed especially well for ASM - this one could be a candidate for the senior squad one day. On the other hand, Bruno Nguyen's performance hadn't been very good at all.
