MKD 6 - 1 Lag 9u

When it was time for kick off, the MKD simply could not find the team they were supposed to go up against. Luckily, a group of schoolboys on a field trip agreed to an improvised game. It had been a rainy day, and no more than 189 were scattered around Makedonija to see the game. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. The boys who got to play today were: Temelkov - Lulzimi, Argirovski, Madzunkov - Pucakoski, Zaev, Lozinovski, Bogatinov, Krsteski - Lazarev, Krišanović.

Starters: Nastevski - Nacev, Lokvenec, Spasovski, Gorgievik - Todorov, Gjurovski, Gjorgievski, Baytak - Balluku, Kocevski.

Akademija Popovski entered the field in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Lag 9-u, chose to start the game with a 4-4-2 lineup. MKD almost put themselves up after 7 minutes as Saso Lazarev got through, but he lost focus and shot the ball wide. Lag 9u's Nedelko Todorov set up a golden opportunity for Selami Baytak, but the latter fell on the ball. Oh no! Seems he had forgot to tie his shoe laces! After 17 minutes, the home side made it all the way up the right wing to score. Antonio Lulzimi supplied the finish, receiving the ball on his chest and knocking it in for 1 - 0, giving his team the lead. The MKD youngsters looked rather smug following the 2 - 0 goal, which came about after a left side attack. Ljupco Zaev stuffed it in after around 21 minutes of the match. After 31 minutes, MKD sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Luka Lozinovski, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot and score the 3 - 0 goal. 3 - 0 was the score after 45 minutes. MKD didn't seem to want to give the ball away in this half, which resulted in 76 percent of the possession.

51 minutes into the game, MKD scored again. Nebojša Krišanović had picked up a stray ball, entered the box from the left, and then coolly rounded the goalkeeper for the 4 - 0 goal. MKD extended their lead to 5 - 0. The boy of the moment was Ljupco Zaev, who protected the ball well as he jinked in from the left side to find space for the finish. MKD's Radoslav Pucakoski was the happiest boy in town after the 6 - 0 goal, having seen his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net. The assist had come in from a mate out on the right wing. It emerged that Nikola Madzunkov had hurt his left foot after 62 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. This gave Dejan Iljovski a chance to take to the field instead. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 75 minutes, Lag 9u did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender, Guxim Balluku could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 6 - 1, real proof that it can pay off to come prepared. The match ends with a 6 - 1 score. In this half MKD were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 76 percent of the time.

The MKD players gave Nebojša Krišanović a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". The coach took Gorazd Argirovski aside after the game, telling him it is okay to have a bad day on the pitch as long as you keep trying. The coach of Lag 9u was especially pleased with Sotir Nacev after the game. Milan Nastevski showed he still has a lot to learn.
