PEPI 6 - 3 YMORF

It had been a rainy day, and no more than 26 were scattered around La grand récré to see the game. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. The picks for today were: Combe - Meïté, Léon - Beaugrand, Müller, Beyo, Chôeman, Delanoé - Lefebvre, Croze, Raspail.

Starters: Ben-Yaacov - Efrat, Sayed - Alal, Elituv, Shelach, Zerach, Mohie - Asraf, Maman, Sidon.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. YMORF displayed their ability to play creatively. After 8 minutes PEPI's Armand Müller won some bragging rights for the schoolyard. He found his way through the guests' central defence, and put the ball in for 1 - 0 - right between the legs of the keeper! After 9 minutes, YMORF's Pinchas Asraf received a yellow card after ignoring the referee's order to tuck his shirt inside his shorts. Despite hurting his left foot at the 10 minute mark, Adrien Léon decided to keep playing. The PEPI youngsters looked rather smug following the 2 - 0 goal, which came about after a left side attack. Léo Raspail stuffed it in after around 15 minutes of the match. Armand Müller went down after twisting his right ankle after 19 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. Jean-François Langrand tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Pinchas Asraf gave his buddies hope as he recorded the 2 - 1 goal for YMORF. He was assisted by two team mates and one rival defender on the left side of the field. All square again as the visitors put away the 2 - 2 after 25 minutes. Pinchas Efrat came in from the right, reached a rebound and blasted it in. Very determined - seldom you see that in a teenager. 2 - 2 was the score after 45 minutes. PEPI pleased their coach greatly, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.

The sparse home crowd was not entertained by the fancy moves of YMORF's Freddy Sidon after 50 minutes of the match. He converted a pass from the left for a goal, which meant the visitors were now in the lead; 2 - 3. PEPI's Roger Meïté compensates for a lack of height with energy, and headed that cross from the left firmly into the net. The 3 - 3 goal came after 52 minutes, and the game was wide open again. Franck Combe was beaming with pride after 64 minutes, as he dived full length and stopped a shot by the visitors' Ziv Shelach. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, PEPI's Alexis Lefebvre got himself booked. PEPI grabbed the initiative after 69 minutes, as Olivier Beaugrand cut in from the right and, with some luck, shoved the ball in for 4 - 3. Léo Raspail was all smiles as the PEPI coach thanked him for taking the score to 5 - 3, tousling his hair. After 83 minutes he had taken advantage of a good exchange of passes on the right and steered the ball into the net. Osama Mohie of YMORF was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. It was group hug time yet again, when PEPI pushed ahead to 6 - 3. Abdelouahid Chôeman was the center of attention, having moved deftly through the middle to find his angle, not hesitating when he did. At the final whistle, the score is 6 - 3. This half the PEPI boys hung on to the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

The coach of PEPI was especially pleased with Léo Raspail after the game. On the other hand, Badara Beyo's performance hadn't been very good at all. The YMORF players gave Sagiv Zerach a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". Nissan Ben-Yaacov left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team.
