DOS 0 - 8 O boys

Weather conditions were pretty good for football, and the lads were happy to see 190 people gathered to see their game at DOS ARENA. Starters: Lalor Cabañas - Arbonés, Keogh, Guntín - 昌宪 (Changxian), Talbi, Monleón, Zafra, Covarrubias - Baqués, Sánchez Ruiz.

The boys who got to play today were: Nikiforovski - Chonevski, Muratovski - Bogatinov, Deren, Oka, Frchkovski, Damjanov - Nichev, Ukëmema, Tafi.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. O boys seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Aleksandar Damjanov charged through the defensive line after 14 minutes and despite almost losing his balance due to a harsh tackle, he still managed to squeeze the ball in. 0 - 1 was the new score for the visiting team. Players in O boys heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. O boys's Hayko Deren received a play slashing through the home side's central defence after 16 minutes, and chipped it past the keeper to score the 0 - 2 goal. The loyal few along the sidelines were not pleased with that one. After 22 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for David Chonevski who increased O boys's lead to 0 - 3. With youthful enthusiasm, Dasaret Ukëmema dribbled past his markers on the right and increased the visitors' lead to 0 - 4. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 26 minutes, O boys did not go for a direct shot but instead aimed for the area just in front of the keeper. The attacking players made several runs as the ball was played and made it hard for the defenders to protect their goal. After a short tussle with the defender, Eris Tafi could finally lay the ball to rest behind the keeper. 0 - 5, real proof that it can pay off to come prepared. It was 0 - 5 at the break. In this half O boys were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 67 percent of the time.

The corner kick went to Lazar Muratovski who headed it straight at goal. The keeper was in the right spot but fumbled the ball, giving O boys's Alzen Oka an easy scoring opportunity: 0 - 6. O boys had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for central attacks. O boys's Simeon Frchkovski took advantage of an overly powerful header back to the keeper 50 minutes into the game, and tapped the ball into the empty net for 0 - 7. DOS's David Arbonés has some interesting ideas about football as we all know, this time he cleared a ball away from his own team mate and up the field. It would have been a visionary move if 李 (Li) 昌宪 (Changxian) had been in on the plan, but he wasn't, and the ball passed him by. DOS were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 66 minutes into the match, but Pedro Covarrubias narrowly missed the free kick attempt. 70 minutes into the game, O boys were awarded a penalty and Simeon Frchkovski was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 8 after a firm, low, uncomplicated kick. The match ends 0 - 8. This half the O boys boys hung on to the ball, with 67 percent of possession.

The DOS players gave Pedro Covarrubias a group hug after the game, claiming he'd been "really great". Manuel Lalor Cabañas needs a lot of extra training, however. The coach of O boys was especially pleased with Kiril Nichev after the game. On the other hand, Aleksandar Damjanov's performance hadn't been very good at all.
