The match almost did not happen, as one of the teams did not arrive in time for kick off. A field hockey team practising in the vicinity agreed to step up and play instead. The grateful Can Jr coach invited them all to orange soda and cinnamon buns afterwards. Dark skies made several of the 185 spectators at Brixton Academy contemplate an early return journey, but the rain held off. The boys who got to play today were: Brajkovski - Oshavkovski, Gligorovski, Cajić, Chupevski, Dimov - Gareski, Panevski, Dzikovski - Dimoski, Çoba.

The picks for today were: Nastevski - Nacev, Spasovski, Gorgievik, Balluku - Todorov, Gjurovski, Gjorgievski, Baytak - Kocevski, Ikonomov.

Canarian juniors entered the field in a 5-3-2 formation. The visitors, Fire Men Young, chose to start the game with a 4-4-2 lineup. Can Jr had a chance to take the lead on Evgenij Panevski's dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled away as his shot went just over the bar 11 minutes into the match. Can Jr almost seemed to have a working tactic this day, purposefully working their way up the right of the field with passes and clever runs. After 24 minutes, Krste Dzikovski got the opening he needed, overtaking an off-balance defender and sealing the 1 - 0 goal for the lead. Milan Nastevski kept the visitors in the game with an amazing save after 25 minutes, following Evgenij Panevski's cannonball kick. One for the TV cameras - had they been around. The referee confirmed the score as 1 - 0 when he signalled for the halftime break. In this half Can Jr were the most energetic, keeping the ball to themselves for 56 percent of the time.

After 59 minutes Andon Çoba secured the lead for Can Jr with a great-looking free kick. That means 2 - 0. Antonio Gligorovski's lack of experience almost gave Fire Men a goal after 64 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. Can Jr's Andon Çoba was the happiest boy in town after the 3 - 0 goal, having seen his shot go between the legs of the advancing goalkeeper and into the net. The assist had come in from a mate out on the right wing. Can Jr extended their lead to 4 - 0. The boy of the moment was Marijan Oshavkovski, who protected the ball well as he jinked in from the left side to find space for the finish. The match ends 4 - 0. This half the Can Jr boys hung on to the ball, with 56 percent of possession.

Can Jr's Andon Çoba had a great game and was congratulated by his team mates. This lad could be going places! Vangel Brajkovski left the field with tears in his eyes, knowing he had been the worst player on his team. The coach of Fire Men was especially pleased with Sotir Nacev after the game. Milan Nastevski needs a lot of extra training, however.
