Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Nälkämaan Keidas saw a crowd turnout of 1625. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and . Although the formal home team was Metsis, the spectators were of course much preferring Höhelit. Metsis started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. Lineup: Kautto - Oese, Mather, Leisti, Lavonen - Valente, Mazza, Josso, Haili - Hartikainen, Nurmirinta.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Höhelit. The following players had been chosen: Haarahiltunen - Kekkonen, Sonninen, Karm - Kemilä, Haimilahti, Himmanen, Vierimaa, Keurulainen - Jakonen, Grönman.

Many thought Väinö Haili ought to have been awarded a penalty 3 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around Gustav Haarahiltunen after a determined run through the middle. 5 minutes into the game, Höhelit wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Innar Karm gave Tuomas Ritola a quick hug as he left the field. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, Tuomas Ritola took over the role of being the Höhelit captain. After 18 minutes, Höhelit's Juha Haimilahti fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! Carlos Valente made one of his many fine passes from the wing into the middle 24 minutes into the match. Jorma Nurmirinta bravely attempted to execute a diving header and the ball was met firmly with his forehead for Metsis. 1 - 0. With 29 minutes played, Höhelit's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to Ville Sonninen he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 1. 30 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Metsis substitution. Samuli Särkipato came on for Jorma Nurmirinta. After 30 minutes, the Metsis coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Célestin Josso off the field. Antero Naskali took his place. The referee showed Höhelit's Tuomas Ritola the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Carlos Valente's experience almost gave Metsis a goal after 34 minutes but the keeper made a great save. 35 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Metsis to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Matias Hartikainen alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Halftime score was 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Höhelit, with 54 percent of the ball.

Federico Mazza would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Jaakko Gök entered the game for Metsis as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Tuomas Ritola came close to putting the visiting team one up 47 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but Ville Kautto managed to tip the ball to a corner. Metsis made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Samuli Särkipato completely alone with keeper Gustav Haarahiltunen, who made a spectacular block. A counterattack by Höhelit after 60 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but Juha Kekkonen, coming in on the left, couldn't get the shot off. Metsis took the lead after 72 minutes as a result of Väinö Haili's peach of a shot from the right hand side of the box - placed beautifully in the top corner. 2 - 1. Höhelit had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.

Metsis's top performer was clearly Ville Kautto. Enn Oese was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Höhelit player was without a doubt Arttu Jakonen. However, Gustav Haarahiltunen made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 2 - 1.
