Metsis 7 - 2 DTSS

The weather was pretty good, and a crowd of 1466 had shown up at Viitakummun Hiekkakenttä for the match. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Augustīns Vagalis and . The match took place on neutral ground. Metsis decided to use a 4-5-1 set up. The following players had been chosen: Kautto - Leisti, Melone, Lavonen, Gonzato - Ahlqvist, Naskali, Vihijärvi, Huvinen, Valente - Hartikainen.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for DTSS. Starters: Kyyriäinen - Halmet, Tang, Theißl - Cometa, Väärä, Pyhälä, Pirttimäki, Lumme - Kangas, Hingebjerg.

Metsis's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 16 minutes gone, but Matias Hartikainen's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. The referee showed DTSS's Niko-Pekka Halmet the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Matti Lavonen was very close to giving Metsis the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 40 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar. With 42 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. Yrjänä Lumme put the ball away for 0 - 1. After 44 minutes of play, Matti Lavonen equalised for Metsis after an elegant attack from the right. Metsis will have to do without Veikka Vihijärvi for a time, due to a bad foot injury at the 44 minute mark. He was substituted by Jaakko Gök. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to DTSS, who controlled the ball 52 percent of the time.

Carlos Valente managed to make an excellent pass from the wing, but Matias Hartikainen was not as skillful and couldn't finish it off. After 58 minutes of play, Carlos Valente gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. With 62 minutes played, Alessandro Cometa came in from the right and could have evened the score, but the defenders successfully repelled the attack by DTSS. With 65 minutes played, Tuomas Väärä of DTSS fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. After 66 minutes, the visitors tied it up at 2 - 2 when a fantastic pass from the left was finished off by Philipp Theißl. 70 minutes into the game, Metsis wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Matias Hartikainen gave Jorma Nurmirinta a quick hug as he left the field. Jorma Nurmirinta was handed the Metsis captain's armband. DTSS's Alessandro Cometa got himself booked for a foul. Matti Lavonen of Metsis had to be helped off the pitch as an injury meant he was unable to finish the game. César Iglesia came in to finish the match. DTSS claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 54 percent.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Philipp Theißl from DTSS a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 99 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! DTSS had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 100 minutes in when Alessandro Cometa came up alone against Ville Kautto who managed a block. The result was still a draw, so the match had to be settled with penalties.

Metsis's Vesa-Pekka Ahlqvist made no mistake. Sami Kyyriäinen didn't have a chance. 3 - 2. Oooh - how unlucky! DTSS's Esa Pyhälä attempt hit the underside of the bar, but rebounded down into the grateful arms of Ville Kautto. The score stays 3 - 2. Metsis's Ville Kautto was relaxed as he smoothly put the ball in the net. 4 - 2! DTSS's Tuomas Väärä drove the ball hard to the corner but couldn't get it past the outstretched arm of Ville Kautto. The score remains 4 - 2. Metsis's Antero Naskali kept his cool as he faced down Sami Kyyriäinen. His composure paid off as he scored easily for 5 - 2. DTSS's Klas Hingebjerg didn't look like he was confident as he stepped up, and produced a badly struck penalty - right into the arms of Ville Kautto. The score remained 5 - 2. Metsis's Carlos Valente showed he has nerves of steel when it comes to penalties, easily changing the score to 6 - 2. DTSS's Sami Kyyriäinen cockily booted the ball with a short-and-fast instep. The penalty, going just wide of the mark, didn't produce a goal. Metsis's Jesper Huvinen coolly put the ball past Sami Kyyriäinen. 7 - 2. DTSS's Bernt Tang penalty shot was very well placed but Ville Kautto went the right way, blocking it spectacularly. The score was still 7 - 2. Most important Metsis player was Ville Kautto. On the other hand, Philip Melone's play was disheartening. DTSS's top performer was clearly Tuomas Väärä. Yrjänä Lumme on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 2.
