Metsis 0 - 3 PaTe

906 fans braved the pouring rain at devils plaything Pit. Quintin Horvath was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and . Metsis started off with a 5-5-0 lineup. They fielded: Paatero - Aarresuo, Pakarinen, Ritari, Gustafsson, Kyttä - de Gier, Zetterner, Vihijärvi, Wittemberg, Burmeister -.

PaTe had chosen a strategic 5-4-1 formation. Lineup: Dotan - Marinescu, Gúlúbov, Razzi, Lauer, Tonteri - Nummenranta, Tuorla, Sjögård, Tsukahara - Dhammachayo.

Metsis immediately set off using their weak skill at pressing their opponents. PaTe saw most attack opportunities on the wings, taking advantage of their brilliant level with that tactic. The game was characterised by rough play and many physical challenges on the wet field, but Dieter Lauer showed great heart and had a good game. Attacking on the wings was the choice for PaTe, and they were successfully passing the ball from the middle to the wings to attack. After 35 minutes, PaTe's Vasil Gúlúbov fell awkwardly, but was determined to stay in the match. That's the spirit! 40 minutes into the game, PaTe wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Jim Sjögård gave Patrick Claydon a quick hug as he left the field. 0 - 0 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Metsis, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

After 49 minutes, PaTe put themselves up 0 - 1, as Sami Nummenranta finished off a strike from the left with a real cannonball of a shot. Metsis's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. The PaTe players could smell victory in the air. Masaya Tsukahara wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Bob Küstennebel after 55 minutes. Metsis's Janheinz Burmeister was shown a yellow card after 60 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The rain made it hard for players like Jussi Kyttä to show their technical control of the ball on this soggy day. Dieter Lauer of PaTe took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 71 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 2. The referee showed Metsis's Kalle Aarresuo the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. With 82 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed Petteri Tuorla of PaTe to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 3. The players of PaTe now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. PaTe enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 57 percent of possession.

The most dominating Metsis player was without a doubt Veikka Vihijärvi. Juho Ritari was a disappointment, however. PaTe's top performer was clearly Dieter Lauer. On the other hand, Nimrod Dotan's play was disheartening. The match ends 0 - 3.
