Triglav 0 - 6 Gmdjer

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 10566 at Triglav arena today. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Carlo Maria Coa and Zé Benedito Soares Melo. Triglav decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. The following players had been chosen: Gregorowicz - Turina, Splingaire, Testas, Meh - Baluka, Kunerl, Panconesi, Quintero - Pardo Saenz, Colon.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Gmdjer. Lineup: Mosstrand - Blanc, Audenaerde, Buffon - Cotta Ramusino, Oražem, Trglavčnik, Turrieta, Sítek - Conceição, Šoštarec.

Given a free kick close to the byline, Gmdjer tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let František Sítek slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 1, 2 minutes into the game. The home crowd cheered when, after 29 minutes, Gui Conceição's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. After 30 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave František Sítek a chance to increase the lead for Gmdjer, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 0 - 2. After 31 minutes Triglav's Leonardo Testas had to be carried off on a stretcher in agony. Massimiliano Drazzi came in to replace him. Harald Georg Baluka was the new captain of Triglav - handed the armband by the departing player. After 34 minutes, Gmdjer's František Sítek burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for František Sítek. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave František Sítek from Gmdjer a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 36 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Triglav's Eustasio Pardo Saenz went down after a savage challenge, but could continue playing after some medical attention. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Gmdjer, who controlled the ball 73 percent of the time.

František Sítek received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 47 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 4. The Gmdjer fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Gmdjer lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After 65 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Piet Audenaerde who increased Gmdjer's lead to 0 - 5. Gui Conceição looked to be heading one way when he unexpectedly passed the ball to Bernardo Cotta Ramusino. The move caught everyone off-guard, including his teammate, who panicked and kicked the ball out of play by accident. Triglav's Eustasio Pardo Saenz managed a superb strike from the left after 72 minutes that would have left goalkeeper Patrik Mosstrand without a chance, had it not hit the post. Some fine movement on the left led to a Gmdjer goal after 79 minutes, making it 0 - 6. April Šoštarec was noted down as the scorer. 82 minutes into the match, Gui Conceição came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Gmdjer claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 68 percent.

Most important Triglav player was Jean-Maurice Colon. Jarosław Gregorowicz was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Gmdjer player was without a doubt José Turrieta. Patrik Mosstrand on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 6.
