3161 spectators had come to Campus Killar Arena this cloudy day. Roger Caekebeke was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jean-Luis Ferretti and Alexander Vogl. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Campus prefers a 2-5-3. Let's see how this plays out for them. They fielded: Weerman - Idkowiak, Nørager - Öhrgård, Gotthult, Matsson, Eberwein, Killind - Falbeck, Gaúcho, Nilsson.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Escaldón will go to battle in a 4-5-1 formation. Lineup: Dunn - Peisl, Batlle, Carratalà, Camos - Feres, Praud, Susana, Vicente Soler, Arangio - Quellen.

Campus mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their supernatural ability to attack in the middle. Like the adage "bend but don't break", Escaldón will rely on their outstanding ability to counter-attack today. With 2 minutes gone, the home side took a 1 - 0 lead as O. Killind raced down the right flank and casually flipped the ball into the net after a searing cross from the far side of the pitch. After 12 minutes, Escaldón substituted I. Feres for A. André, hoping for a quick impact on the field. 13 minutes into the match, the Speedy Gonzalez-like O. Killind easily outran U. Peisl to knock in the 2 - 0 goal. Confident in their lead, Campus's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. D. Gaúcho had put in a good 23 minutes and left the field with a smile on his face due to his team's lead. R. Matsson was the replacement. Campus's M. Gotthult swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defense were able to clear the ball. Escaldón's defense sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counter-attack with 28 minutes gone, but V. Carratalà's finish was met by the firm hands of the keeper. I. Vicente Soler of Escaldón received a yellow card after 31 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. Campus were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Cheers filled the stadium as M. Matsson broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 0 goal for Campus. The crowd was amused as U. Arangio of Escaldón used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by A. André wasn't very amusing, however, and the score was unchanged. After 42 minutes, Escaldón's U. Arangio surprised everyone as he managed to intercept a pass intended for the opposing keeper and flip it up and in, making the score 3 - 1. 43 minutes had gone when Campus's C. Eberwein found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 4 - 1. With 43 minutes played, Campus's D. Öhrgård received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. 4 - 1 was the halftime score. The forty-five minutes were dominated by Campus, with an impressive 73 percent possession of the ball.

Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Escaldón's T. Quellen was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 50 minutes. Z. Klich was given a chance to change things around. Escaldón needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 59 minutes S. Praud made way for P. Bonde Nielsen. E. Batlle was handed the Escaldón captain's armband. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Campus's C. Eberwein bringing the lead up to 5 - 1. Campus put themselves up 6 - 1 when C. Eberwein broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. That made three goals for C. Eberwein. He'll be taking the match ball home with him having scored a hattrick! Escaldón's Z. Klich was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 71 minutes. The goal to make it 6 - 2 was scored by P. Bonde Nielsen with 73 minutes on the clock, following an opportunistic counter-attack down the middle by Escaldón. The clock read 74 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Campus scored another to make it 7 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for R. Matsson. The home side's R. Matsson came close to extending the lead after 80 minutes. His shot came in from the right but S. Dunn managed to push it wide with his fingertips. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Campus would have 68 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Campus's best player was R. Matsson. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because O. Killind seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Most important Escaldón player was A. André. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by U. Peisl today. The match ends 7 - 2.
