Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 49618 to Frate luca. Dimosthenis Vazakos was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Finn 'Tigging' Eckfeldt and Paul Palmer. Vitondese had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Nurkkala - Girón Ruiz, Ladegaard, Bland - De Meyer, Kahlig, Manrique Coto, Tenória, Feszler - Almeida, Młodecki.

Makaira decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. The following players took the field: Soares - Cambieri, Ioan, Middlebrooks - Crnko, Mazzurana, Urbāns, Rocchia, Cederberg - Abdulaeu, Vassdal.

O. Cederberg would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. H. Daguet entered the game for Makaira as the match clock showed 1 minutes. Many thought E. Tenória ought to have been awarded a penalty 5 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around D. Soares after a determined run through the middle. M. Almeida of Vitondese displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered E. Cambieri and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 1 - 0. The visiting team's E. Cambieri was able to score the 1 - 1 equaliser with a header 20 minutes into the match, after some good work on the right. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Neither team was controlling the possession at this point in the match, with the stats showing a 50:50 split.

46 minutes into the game, Vitondese wanted to bring some new energy to their game. H. Kahlig gave V. Nesterovič a quick hug as he left the field. C. Ioan neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to H. Daguet who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. The terraces were silenced after 64 minutes when Makaira's D. Crnko put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. With 82 minutes played, P. Abdulaeu nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Vitondese's Z. Młodecki put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 2 - 2 with 84 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. With 86 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 3 - 2 lead as M. Almeida flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Makaira manager used a brief break in play after 87 minutes to give the players new directives. The Makaira players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. After 87 minutes, Makaira switched C. Ioan with W. Sandoval, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. As the captain was no longer on the pitch, G. Urbāns took over the role of being the Makaira captain. The Vitondese players could smell victory in the air. Z. Młodecki wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for D. Arredondo after 89 minutes. D. Arredondo wanted to play on, but the Vitondese coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 89 minutes into the game by G. Pantea. In the lead, Vitondese adjusted their style of play with 89 minutes gone. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Vitondese, with 54 percent of the ball.

Vitondese's top performer was clearly M. Almeida. G. Pantea on the other hand, had a terrible day. Makaira's best player was P. Abdulaeu. W. Sandoval turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 2.
