Clouds darkened the skies at Mediterraneo as 45239 spectators turned up for the match. Hezi Levi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Erkut Mühri and Mark Mannes. The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Capaci formed up in a 3-5-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. The following players had been selected: Rebagliati - Lisek, Padrini, Farris - Rocchi, Toneatti, Marello, Ruju, Ilić - Hagell, Lafargue.

Gentlemen prefer blondes and GrandeCara prefers a 3-4-3. Let's see how this plays out for them. They fielded: Vizziello - Beumkes, Meza, Jansson - Mazzucchi, Zappalà, Pasquinucci, Voza - Mewton, Fresnais, 秋山 (Akiyama).

GrandeCara saw most attack opportunities on the wings by using their magnificent ability to push the attack in the right direction. J. Hagell's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 18 following a run up the middle gave Capaci the 1 - 0 lead. After 21 minutes, GrandeCara's A. Meza successfully broke up a pass with his face. Instinctively, he got up again only to unintentionally use his now-throbbing schnozz to break up a second pass. As he was carted off for a concussion check, W. Jongejan ran onto the field to take his place. A. Beumkes really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great flick by T. Voza after a corner. E. Toneatti should probably have put his team up another goal after 30 minutes, but some great goalkeeping by E. Vizziello kept the visitors in the game. M. Pasquinucci looked around after sending his opponent to the ground to realize he was the last man. That's called denial of a goalscoring opportunity, and the GrandeCara player was sent off after 33 minutes. That was no dive! Capaci's G. Lafargue looked to be in real pain after being caught by a stray leg. The fans held their breath, but in the end he managed to get up and keep playing. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, J. Hagell somehow got his head on a F. Marello moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for Capaci, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 2 - 0. J. Mewton nearly reduced the lead 40 minutes into the game, but a splendid one-handed save by C. Rebagliati put an end to the play coming in from the right flank. 41 minutes into the game, Capaci were awarded a penalty that F. Marello converted into a bigger lead without so much as a how-do-you-do to the visiting keeper. It's 3 - 0 now! 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Capaci would have 59 percent possession in this half was spot on!

GrandeCara had a fair chance to reply after 48 minutes due to some fine moves down the left, but in the end B. Fresnais was slow to keep up with the play and was unable to make it into the penalty box to apply a finish. The GrandeCara players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. After playing for 52 minutes and finding his team in a losing position, the manager hoped to turn things around. 昌. 秋山 (Akiyama) was ordered to assume a different position on the field and switched places with S. Jansson. GrandeCara needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 53 minutes S. Jansson made way for S. Matenje. As the captain was no longer on the field, W. Jongejan took over the role for GrandeCara. F. Marello struck a 30 yard free kick home after 59 minutes. 4 - 0 for the home team. Confident in their lead, Capaci's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. The home team's lead was reduced to 4 - 1 after GrandeCara's B. Fresnais took advantage of a misunderstanding in the center of the defense. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 66 minutes on the clock after M. Rocchi's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Capaci player a yellow card though. GrandeCara were forced into a substitution as W. Jongejan couldn't continue playing due to some rough treatment, so S. Stangl had to come in from the bench. As GrandeCara's captain went off, he handed the armband to E. Vizziello. After a play down the right 71 minutes into the match, Capaci's E. Toneatti unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Capaci's F. Marello bringing the lead up to 5 - 1. One, two, three goals! That completed a hattrick for F. Marello. AH! AH! AH! The forty-five minutes were dominated by Capaci, with an impressive 56 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Capaci player was J. Hagell. Speaking of stinking up the place, M. Rocchi sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. GrandeCara's best player was T. Voza. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by S. Stangl today. The match ends 5 - 1.
