68090 spectators had come to Mount Doom Stadium this cloudy day. Jaap Cox was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Oscar Maillet and . Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! rivendell will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Espadañero - Maniez, Cabarrús, Silvino - Cuartas, Valencina, Wilstra, Fuster, Capritti - Fregni, Matinlassi.

The head coach flashed hand signals from the sideline and Atletico formed up in a 3-5-2 combination. Let's hope the opposing sideline wasn't filming that. The following players had been selected: Khoo - Kecht, Gunnarsson, Simčić - Baak, Jensen, Hautschek, Ciorescu, Wammes - Barberà, Reguera.

Many fans are yawning as Atletico appears to be more enamored of using their passable pressing skills to smother the opponents' attacks rather than create attacks of their own. But all will be forgiven if it achieves a good result. Slack defending gave rivendell a chance to take the lead with 9 minutes played, but G. Valencina's cross from the left flank was met gratefully by the opposition who cleared it to safety. The rivendell free kick 12 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But it was no mistake - M. Cabarrús seemingly came out of nowhere and had miles of space to control the ball and pick his spot. That's 1 - 0! After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Atletico's F. Reguera got himself booked. rivendell solidified their lead at the 19 minute mark, as Q. Fuster snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 2 - 0. Almost all the way down at the corner flag, rivendell's F. Cuartas somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for K. Matinlassi, who scored for 3 - 0. Confident in their lead, rivendell's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. M. Fregni could have put rivendell up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 26 minutes. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, rivendell's K. Matinlassi finally got himself booked for a foul. The clock read 28 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as rivendell scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for M. Fregni. Atletico pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a deadlock at times. The referee showed rivendell's A. Silvino the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. That was no dive! Atletico's L. Simčić looked to be in real pain after being caught by a stray leg. The fans held their breath, but in the end he managed to get up and keep playing. The teams went for the halftime break at 4 - 0. rivendell set the tempo, maintaining 60 percent of possession.

The rivendell coach was happy with the scoreline, but still wanted to change the lineup. After 46 minutes, V. Salmen came on for M. Fregni. The bench was restless, and with 50 minutes gone Atletico's coach gave A. Morro the opportunity to try to change the team's fortunes. H. Kecht reluctantly left the field. rivendell's K. Matinlassi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 54 minutes in. After 56 minutes, rivendell were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the kicker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his teammates a bit by surprise. F. Cuartas did manage a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball out of bounds. Having just won a lot of ground following a quick turn of play, Atletico were given a free kick at a sharp angle. Rather than going for the direct shot, the defense was bypassed by a few sideways passes, giving A. Morro the chance to slip through at goal. Nice teamwork! 4 - 1, 57 minutes into the game. With 67 minutes played, rivendell's A. Espadañero pulled up limping after a savage, cowardly challenge. But he's not yet ready to shuffle off this mortal coil. He's staying in to play on. The valiant never taste of death but once! Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 72 minutes on the clock after V. Hautschek's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Atletico player a yellow card though. rivendell's K. Matinlassi wanted to play on, but after 89 minutes the decision was made to give V. Păduraru a chance in his place. K. Maniez had put in a good 89 minutes and left the field with a smile on his face due to his team's lead. J. Lejeune was the replacement. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Atletico's L. Wammes was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the field after 89 minutes. R. Rechenberg was given a chance to change things around. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that rivendell would have 64 percent possession in this half was spot on!

rivendell's top performer was clearly A. Silvino. I can't remember V. Păduraru ever having a worse night than he just had. F. Reguera performed admirably for Atletico. Speaking of stinking up the place, L. Baak sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. The match ends 4 - 1.
