Clear skies welcomed the 32566 spectators who had made their way to Coliseum Miguel Cousau. Roberto Madureira was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Olly Krijnen. Football started off with a 4-5-1 lineup. Starters: Ludvigsen - Hietala, Shalom, Zaborowski, Maravilla - Unseld, Vana, Infanzón, Crivelli, Mendes - Alvertis.

Garnata had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Ceballos - Martínez, Vázquez, Jado, Vitorica - Ederra, Ródenas, Caión, Pagoto - Valero Giménez, Paleologos.

Garnata clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their magnificent level with that tactic. Garnata were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 12 minutes into the match, but Jaime Pagoto narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul. Garnata's Diego Martínez left the field after 23 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Xavier Gassió. In a rapid move 36 minutes into the match, Rubén Paleologos of Garnata lost his man and passed the ball to the unmarked Rubén Valero Giménez who easily hit it home to make it 0 - 1. Luckily the ref didn't see him taunting the opposing fans in celebration - naughty boy! 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Possession in this half belonged to Football, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

In the lead, Garnata adjusted their style of play with 60 minutes gone. After a short break after 60 minutes, Garnata seemed to change their tactical approach a bit. In an effort to secure the lead, Garnata changed their tactic after 60 minutes. With things not going too well on the field, the Football coach made the decision to swap the positions of Sakis Alvertis and Arik Vana with 65 minutes played. The bench was restless, and with 65 minutes passed Football's coach gave Joffrey Paris the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Sakis Alvertis reluctantly left the field. With 65 minutes played, the Football coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around. Fritz Huibers came on, Guillermo Maravilla had to leave the fray. The goal to make it 0 - 2 was scored by Antonio Luis Vázquez after 69 minutes, following an opportunistic counterattack down the middle by Garnata. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Garnata lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After 72 minutes, the defensive line of Garnata created a counterattack through the middle that gave Fernando Vitorica a good look at the goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. Leo Hietala of Football seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 1 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Raffael Unseld. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Football's Raffael Unseld was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 89 minutes. Raúl Olazábal Solís was given a chance to change things around. Football enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

Donato Infanzón performed admirably for Football. On the other hand, Raúl Olazábal Solís's play was disheartening. Garnata's top performer was clearly Rubén Paleologos. However, Xavier Gassió made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 1 - 2.
