win! 0 - 7 CA

It had rained all day, but 20769 hardy fans still made it out to Time to Arena. Ib Clemmensen was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alberto del Valle and Rober Harvey. After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, win! decided to go with a 2-5-3 formation. Lineup: Antimonov - Campaniello, Givon - López, Anghel, Arceo, Fattorini, Haddad - van der Lem, Wilczok, Rubio Martínez.

Gentlemen prefer blondes and CA prefers a 3-5-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players took the field: Salaun - Toro, Vulin, Ballesteros - Idiáquez, Della Giovanna, Cifer, Sánchez Ochoa, Muntada - Abdollahi, André.

CA went for a narrow approach, using their world class ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 10 minutes into the match, and F. Della Giovanna wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 0 - 1 for the visitors. The home crowd was not impressed when J. Ballesteros came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 26 minutes. CA were now up 0 - 2. D. Abdollahi came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over D. Antimonov just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. The crowd groaned when S. Fattorini, having maneuvered his way down the right, fired the ball just wide and missed a great opportunity to pull one back for win!. With 31 minutes played, CA put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was S. André. The muddy field made the game a gritty affair, which seemed to suit H. López just fine. A thrilling play through the middle after 33 minutes gave CA's M. Cifer a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 4. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 37 minutes on the clock after C. Toro's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the CA player a yellow card though. A late sliding challenge from C. Toro was deemed to be reckless, which earned him his second yellow card and left CA down a man. It was 0 - 4 at the break. CA did a good job holding on to the ball, with 55 percent of possession.

It was obvious that CA had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. The visitors' D. Abdollahi took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 60 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for CA. CA's players now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. After 65 minutes of game time, M. Cifer had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, hitting a cross from the right with a half volley, but D. Antimonov was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. 69 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 6 as M. Cifer finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. F. Della Giovanna had a difficult time moving the ball with his trademark elegance; the muddy surface was clearly affecting his technique. The away team's S. André took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 73 minutes increasing CA's lead to 0 - 7. Neither team had an advantage in possession this half.

win!'s best player was S. Fattorini. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by A. Campaniello today. M. Cifer performed admirably for CA. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because M. Idiáquez seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 0 - 7.
