Clouds darkened the skies at Dinis Gaudiwiesn as 20505 spectators turned up for the match. José Luzón was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Xavier Kowalczyk. A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for Eching. Starters: Monsalve - Tessler, Kolár, Baudel, Kecke - Gehrling, Heydt, Scandaletti, Argenziano, Majcherek - Csimbi.

Köln-Ehrenfeld tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Pintelon - Åhgård, Esebeck, Diez Canseco - Steensen, Balling, Maksimovs, Meesschaert, Lees - Gal, Guénet.

It was an obvious ambition of Eching to use their brilliant ability at attacking on the flanks. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Kenneth Åhgård got himself booked. The manager of Köln-Ehrenfeld was not happy. Köln-Ehrenfeld's Geoffrey Pintelon left the field after 31 minutes because of a nasty blow to the shin. His replacement was Mikuláš Drobniak. Mathéo Guénet came close to putting the visiting team one up 33 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but Gustavo Monsalve managed to tip the ball to a corner. 40 minutes into the game, Emilien Meesschaert almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Köln-Ehrenfeld claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 57 percent.

The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Raffaele Lees was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 60 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Rudolf Esebeck slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Gustavo Monsalve, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Köln-Ehrenfeld's Daniel Gal gave the visitors a 0 - 1 lead after 71 minutes with a superb strike from the right. Eching needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 71 minutes Patrick Baudel made way for Kévin Miot. As the game started to slip away for Eching, the manager decided to change the tactical approach. Unhappy with the result so far in the game, the Eching manager used a brief break in play after 71 minutes to give the players new directives. On any other day, Ettore Scandaletti's free kick would have found the back of the net to tie the game for Eching, but not today - the visitors' keeper displayed extraordinary reflexes as he blocked the shot harmlessly to the side. 74 minutes into the game, Köln-Ehrenfeld worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. The visitors' Mathéo Guénet took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 75 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Köln-Ehrenfeld. The bench was restless, and with 80 minutes passed Eching's coach gave Jannik Heftig the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Heiko Gehrling reluctantly left the field. Possession in this half belonged to Köln-Ehrenfeld, who controlled the ball 58 percent of the time.

The most dominating Eching player was without a doubt Kai Heydt. Gustavo Monsalve turned in a dismal performance, however. Stepans Maksimovs performed admirably for Köln-Ehrenfeld. However, Mikuláš Drobniak made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.
