Frick 2 - 1 Sulzbach

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 36775 at Fc Frick Arena today. Henri Lepage was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Carlos Roberto Santos Reis and Anders Gottman. Frick started off with a 4-4-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Olszowski - Verbaan, Evpak, Charleux, Di Iorio - Courivaud, Ciemięga, Benzi, Enache - Kolářík, Cordal.

Sulzbach decided to use a 5-3-2 set up. Lineup: Papalino - Arntsen, Uranus, Tepla, Benea, Majdan - Budianto, Göknar, Dobler - Toma, Sauber.

For their match strategy, Sulzbach had decided to use their supernatural ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Jordan Verbaan received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly 24 minutes into the match, probably out of lack of experience, and almost let an opponent score. Frick created a good opportunity to score 32 minutes into the match when Vítor Cordal's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Frick's Didier Charleux was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 34 minutes. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 35 minutes, Sulzbach did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker, Oskar Tepla was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1. It was 0 - 1 at the break. Frick had most of the ball, with 58 percent of possession.

After 49 minutes, following yet another great corner, Çağrı Göknar's flick on at the near post reached Edwin Toma, who was just wide with his snapshot - the ball went out for a goal kick. With a shot curled in from just outside the middle of the penalty area after 54 minutes played, Konstantin Evpak of Frick made the score 1 - 1. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Sulzbach coach decided it was time for a substitution. Midun Budianto reluctantly made way for Rolf Geren on the pitch. Frick were very close to putting themselves one up after 79 minutes as Jordan Verbaan got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. Frick took the lead 80 minutes into the game by 2 - 1, as Matouš Kolářík elegantly received a long range pass through the middle, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Sulzbach mounted an inspired counterattack down the right wing after 83 minutes, but Harald Dobler was unable to convert from short range. Possession in this half belonged to Frick, who controlled the ball 57 percent of the time.

The most dominating Frick player was without a doubt Matouš Kolářík. Jenel Enache on the other hand, had a terrible day. Harald Dobler performed admirably for Sulzbach. On the other hand, Robert Benea's play was disheartening. The match ends 2 - 1.
