Dark skies made the crowd of 37899 at Fort Real de São Filipe a little nervous, but the rain held off. José Ricardo Rafael Ferrero was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Roland Mathiasson and Thimo Renes. Everyone was excited about the upcoming Santiago rivalry match and the crowd was divided evenly. Our studio analysts were correct. Privateers has taken the field in a 4-4-2 alignment. The following players had been selected: Irun - Buron, Sapienza, Sadeh, Lopes - Lacara, Stadsholt, Angelino, Sheppard - Elder, Salamanca.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! PRAIA will go to battle in a 3-5-2 formation. The following players took the field: Pagter - Marcela, Valiante, Fernandes - Rosário Ferreira, Magriço, Ignat, Moreira, Gomes Vaz - Fernandes, Estêvão.

It was an obvious ambition of Privateers to play a wide game with their titanic ability to attack down the wings. After 29 minutes PRAIA's M. Moreira contracted a slight foot injury, but said he could still finish the game. Was it the hair gel? Was it a gift from the gods? Either way, the faithful won't care. Soaring like a Saturn V, J. Magriço somehow got his head on a M. Ignat moonshot from the corner and buried it in the back of the net. What grace! What power! Plant the flag for PRAIA, Neil Armstrong! The score is now 0 - 1. The crowd was on its feet at the 34 minute mark, as Privateers's L. Sapienza found himself all alone in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 1 - 1 equalizer. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when T. Marcela was unable to give the visitors the go-ahead goal after his attack from the left in minute 35. With 37 minutes played J. Sheppard almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide. Attacking on the wings was the theme of the day for Privateers, and they were successfully passing the ball outside from the middle. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Privateers had 53...53 percent possession. AH AH AH!

With 54 minutes played, Privateers's B. Sadeh received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, P. Fernandes of PRAIA spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. T. Marcela tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving PRAIA's M. Moreira a chance to knock it in for 1 - 2. Privateers's J. Elder put his head on a fantastic ball lifted in from the left, and scored after 76 minutes to bring the teams level - 2 - 2. It was obvious that Privateers had instructions to attack on the wings instead of in the middle. The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 78 minutes of hard work with a breakthrough from L. Sapienza, who, all by his lonesome, came out of the right wing and hooked the ball over the visitors' keeper. Privateers's coach was furious with L. Sapienza after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. P. Angelino showed why he is feared on the counter-attack, breaking through in the middle and scoring for Privateers after 87 minutes to make the score 4 - 2. Privateers set the tempo, maintaining 60 percent of possession.

J. Elder performed admirably for Privateers. Speaking of stinking up the place, F. Lopes sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. PRAIA's top performer was clearly J. Magriço. I can't remember P. Fernandes ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 4 - 2.
