Clouds darkened the skies at Phoenix Arena as 34488 spectators turned up for the match. David Beauvisage was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Torquil MacLeister and Klas Sunesson. Gentlemen prefer blondes and Phoenix1 prefers a 3-5-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players had been selected: Daeseleer - Descheiver, Pasaulis, Bosman - Fauchald, Meyles, Löwik, Katlevičius, Christiansson - Henno, Frascella.

After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, vrienden decided to go with a 3-4-3 formation. The following players took the field: Klomp - Fevza, Koenderink, Slump - 涌番 (Yongfan) , Kolff, Janmaat, Loyolla - Węgorzewski, Epskamp, Haaksema.

vrienden's game plan was to sit back and absorb the pressure, then use their outstanding ability to break on the counter whenever possible. vrienden took the lead 16 minutes into the game, making the score 0 - 1 after some elegant movement down the middle. J. Loyolla was the scorer. 29 minutes in, vrienden appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only weak. The crowd roared in delight as D. Frascella finished off a spectacular series of plays up the middle to even the score for Phoenix1 after 30 minutes. 1 - 1. The referee signaled a penalty for the home side with 34 minutes gone, amid vocal protests from the visitors. Phoenix1 fans erupted in celebration as R. Meyles rifled the go-ahead goal into the top right hand corner. 2 - 1! After 39 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by N. Henno might have resulted in another goal for Phoenix1. However, J. Klomp made a spectacular save. Having turned the direction of play quickly, the vrienden counter-attack ended abruptly with a rough challenge after 40 minutes. The resulting free kick was a low shot into the area just in front of the keeper. However, the defense were on their toes and did not allow the opponents to reach the ball. After a play down the right 41 minutes into the match, Phoenix1's N. Henno unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. Phoenix1's E. Löwik was delighted to score as he saw his shot go between the legs of the advancing keeper and into the net, following some good attacking movement on the right wing. 3 - 1 after 42 minutes. 3 - 1 was the score after the first half. Phoenix1 did a good job holding on to the ball, with 71 percent of possession.

During the break, vrienden's coach went through the team's tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organization. vrienden fought on, and after 51 minutes, N. Węgorzewski was able to increase the goal tally to 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with a smart lob. 78 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as T. Fauchald ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 4 - 2 for Phoenix1. R. Meyles almost put Phoenix1 ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, vrienden's R. Haaksema got himself booked. The clock read 89 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Phoenix1 scored another to make it 5 - 2 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for E. Löwik. 89 minutes into the game, vrienden seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organization. There was concern in the stands when, at the 89 minute mark, vrienden's 溫. 涌番 (Yongfan) hit the ground hard, but with the help of the trainer's magic spray, he rejoined his teammates on the field. R. Meyles increased Phoenix1's lead to 6 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball. Phoenix1's players now seemed to think the job was done and acted more defensively, just waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. Phoenix1 set the tempo, maintaining 74 percent of possession.

Phoenix1's best player was R. Meyles. Good thing T. Fauchald isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. vrienden's top performer was clearly H. Epskamp. I can't remember N. Węgorzewski ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 6 - 2.
