Overcast weather free of rain made for a turnout of 29776 at AFC Amsterdam today. Max Schönholzer was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Meinrad Hubli and Mattia Chessa. After thorough analysis and consultation of astrological charts, Amsterdam decided to go with a 4-5-1 formation. The following players took the field: Borhidan - Mogensen, Heespen, Bitsch, Klijn - Štědrý, Prochota, Hoeltzenbein, Kadijk, Shkedi - van Essen.

Gentlemen prefer blondes and Bubbie prefers a 5-4-1. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players had been selected: Beers - Prieto, Peyret, Bonassoli, Bronk, Osorio - Slendebroek, Rustenburg, de Kler, Pijnenburg - Eggenkamp.

A outstanding level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Amsterdam. Using their formidable counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Bubbie today. After 3 minutes, Amsterdam were awarded a free kick. Rather than shooting straight at goal, the kicker went for an indirect variant which seemed to take his teammates a bit by surprise. T. Bitsch did manage a finish, but from an awkward position, sending the ball out of bounds. Bubbie had a good opportunity to score the go-ahead goal after a combination on the right but the home team's keeper B. Borhidan saved S. Bonassoli's shot that was headed straight to the top corner. 23 minutes into the game, R. Eggenkamp had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. After 24 minutes D. Štědrý made a speedy advance and dropped the ball to K. van Essen who blasted it past the keeper. The score was now 1 - 0. Coming through the middle C. Prieto almost scored the equalizer for Bubbie after 26 minutes, but B. Borhidan made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Bubbie would have 58 percent possession in this half was spot on!

After 46 minutes, Bubbie substituted R. Eggenkamp for M. Carabajal, hoping for a quick impact on the field. Amsterdam's defense sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counter-attack with 48 minutes gone, but K. van Essen's finish was met by the firm hands of the keeper. Bubbie's coach was furious with G. Osorio after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. K. van Essen of Amsterdam received a yellow card after 73 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. With the clock showing 80 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of Amsterdam resulted in a counter-attack that was smoothly brought under control by K. van Essen in the center of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Bubbie had 60...60 percent possession. AH AH AH!

Most important Amsterdam player was T. Hoeltzenbein. Good thing J. Mogensen isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The most outstanding Bubbie player was without a doubt P. Rustenburg. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by N. Bronk today. The match ends 1 - 0.
