Clear skies welcomed the 810 spectators who had made their way to PintaMaria Stadium. Greg Borckmann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Radim Šída and Alexander Nakov. Gentlemen prefer blondes and PintaMaria prefers a 3-5-2. Let's see how this plays out for them. The following players took the field: Petrović - Aruta, Holec, Špatenka - Korbi, Falco, Hackenschmied, Benaglio, Mazzurana - Duprêt, del Bosque.

Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! FC-Bolzano will go to battle in a 4-5-1 formation. They fielded: Weinans - Lavi, D'Ascanio, Rodríguez Andrade, Pivovarovs - Lercher, Malazonia, Cruz, Pelucchi, Strūkovas - Adão.

FC-Bolzano seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their solid ability to great effect. With 7 minutes played, M. del Bosque came in from the right with the intention of giving PintaMaria the lead, but his rocket of a shot could only rattle the crossbar. It was obvious that FC-Bolzano had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. PintaMaria's counter-attack was impressive and was only stopped by a shocking foul. Somehow, the referee's cards remained in his pocket - a terrible decision! B. Aruta's resulting free kick was easily saved by the keeper. F. Falco of PintaMaria received a yellow card after 19 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. 29 minutes into the game, C. D'Ascanio was a hair's width away from giving FC-Bolzano the lead with a shot from the left. A timely dive by V. Petrović saved the home team on this occasion. FC-Bolzano players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, FC-Bolzano's M. Adão finally got himself booked for a foul. It was 0 - 0 at the break. The forty-five minutes were dominated by PintaMaria, with an impressive 52 percent possession of the ball.

FC-Bolzano were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. With 55 minutes gone, PintaMaria's F. Falco had to leave the game after talking back to the referee and receiving his second booking. When M. Adão made yet another spikes-first tackle after 56 minutes, the referee was obliged to book the FC-Bolzano player for the second time, which automatically ejected him from the game. As the captain was no longer on the field, R. Pivovarovs took over the role for FC-Bolzano. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a FC-Bolzano substitution. E. Štaffa came on for G. Pelucchi. After 80 minutes, the FC-Bolzano coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving M. Lercher off. V. Fracassi took his place. FC-Bolzano did a good job holding on to the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

After the regular 90 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for FC-Bolzano, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. 0 - 1 was the score after 98 minutes, when FC-Bolzano's G. Strūkovas cut through the central defense and pounded one in. What a dramatic win for FC-Bolzano! Most important PintaMaria player was T. Mazzurana. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by M. del Bosque today. The most outstanding FC-Bolzano player was without a doubt R. Pivovarovs. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because G. Strūkovas seemed to stumble all over the pitch. The match ends 0 - 1.
