Clear skies welcomed the 3319 spectators who had made their way to La Piana. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hugo Favén and Yrjänä Kaustinen. The match took place on neutral ground. SamuGenoa1893 had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: MacAirt - Kittinger, Bedia, Sarappa - Løvelund, Citeroni, Rahmdahl, Strilyov, Falchi - Ionitã, Nedić.

A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Dynamo. The following players took the field: Bugajczyk - Vinyukov, Folon, Topor - McGarrell, Zanoncini, Igl, Duyzend, Allgäuer - Hagleitner, Hipfinger.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Dynamo, taking advantage of their excellent level with that tactic. SamuGenoa1893 created a good opportunity to score 8 minutes into the match when Dejan Nedić's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. Dynamo's Vasile Topor had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 24 minutes having been played. Oskar Balaban was the replacement. Leon 'der Bomber' Hipfinger finished off the counterattack of Dynamo from the left rather easily, making the score 0 - 1. With 27 minutes played, Viorel Ionitã of SamuGenoa1893 fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. With 34 minutes played, after a good run down the left, Giancarlo Falchi went down looking for a penalty after a challenge from the visitors' right fullback, but the referee waved play on, and later warned him for diving. Dynamo's Walbert Folon was shown a yellow card after 35 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The referee showed SamuGenoa1893's Pedro Bedia the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Erast Vinyukov was the unlucky victim and couldn't continue the game, so Dynamo's Yaya Ndiour had to come off the bench. 40 minutes into the game, Dejan Nedić came close to levelling the score with a dangerous shot from the centre of the area that went just over the bar. Due to some great work on the right wing SamuGenoa1893's Viorel Ionitã was able to even the score after 41 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. SamuGenoa1893 enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 70 percent of possession.

Giancarlo Falchi got new instructions from the SamuGenoa1893 coach after 46 minutes. He changed positions with Valentin Strilyov soon after. Some things can only be learned through experience, and Attilio Sarappa should take his lesson to heart after nearly gifting Dynamo a goal with 47 minutes of the match played. After 54 minutes of play, Giancarlo Falchi gave the home team a 2 - 1 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Content with how the game was proceeding, the SamuGenoa1893 coach let Renaud Pierreux replace Viorel Ionitã after 61 minutes. The visitors almost came back with an equaliser 67 minutes into the match after a good combination through the middle, but when Marcelo 'Zorro' Zanoncini tried to finish the attack, he couldn't get enough power on the shot to seriously challenge the keeper. After 73 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Oscar Løvelund gave the SamuGenoa1893 supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. SamuGenoa1893's Giancarlo Falchi saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 74 minutes. Possession in this half belonged to SamuGenoa1893, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.

Most important SamuGenoa1893 player was Renaud Pierreux. However, Benjamin Kittinger made a disastrous appearance. Dynamo's top performer was clearly Leon 'der Bomber' Hipfinger. David Allgäuer turned in a dismal performance, however. The match ends 3 - 1.
