Redbull 0 - 6 Kontra

1879 spectators arrived at Selford Stadium, where weather conditions were pretty good for soccer. Guy Allison was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tomás Enrique Grosso and Malcolm Thomas. Cry "havoc" and let loose the dogs of war! Redbull will go to battle in a 4-3-3 formation. The following players took the field: Marsellesa - Gaintzerain, Fernández Peñaranda, Pileri, Bozkurt - Madrón, Sanches, Amieva - Guimera, Spitter, Campos-Molinas.

Our studio analysts were correct. Kontra has taken the field in a 3-5-2 alignment. Starters: Nenadović - Grugni, Hviid, Tullbeck - Lipták-Fegó, Frehmann, Nederhall, Groenewold, Diarena - Aicardi, Lindner.

Redbull were mostly trying to use their excellent skill at attacking on the flanks. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 2 minutes allowed O. Lindner to score for Kontra. The visitors have the lead, 0 - 1. The referee showed Kontra's P. Aicardi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. E. Txara did some final stretches before entering the game as Redbull's trainer helped J. Marsellesa off the field after an injury. After 20 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for P. Aicardi who increased Kontra's lead to 0 - 2. With 23 minutes played, Kontra's R. Frehmann received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. A thrilling play through the middle after 33 minutes gave Kontra's N. Diarena a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 3. At this point, it was obvious that the players of Kontra lowered the tempo and became more defensively oriented. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Kontra's S. Grugni finally got himself booked for a foul. After 37 minutes, Kontra's A. Nederhall burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 4. It was 0 - 4 at the break. The Count appeared on the jumbotron and announced that Kontra had 64...64 percent possession. AH AH AH!

A. Guimera looked around after sending his opponent to the ground to realize he was the last man. That's called denial of a goalscoring opportunity, and the Redbull player was sent off after 52 minutes. Kontra's A. Nederhall made it through the home team's defense on the right hand side 54 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded net when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. The visitors' C. Groenewold took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 55 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Kontra. Kontra's S. Tullbeck received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 63 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 6. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Redbull's A. Madrón got himself booked. After 80 minutes of game time, P. Aicardi had an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors' lead, hitting a cross from the right with a half volley, but E. Txara was in the right place and tipped the ball to a corner. 84 minutes into the game, Redbull seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a poor level of organization. Kontra did a good job holding on to the ball, with 64 percent of possession.

Redbull's top performer was clearly B. Sanches. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Ö. Bozkurt seemed to stumble all over the pitch. R. Frehmann performed admirably for Kontra. I can't remember N. Diarena ever having a worse night than he just had. The match ends 0 - 6.
