Clear skies welcomed the 9161 spectators who had made their way to Area 34. Roberts Cielavins was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Ingo Witten. A 4-4-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Tyrone. They fielded: Hendrix - Jones, Eikenberry, Maloney, Cerdeño - Clippinger, Mayze, Best, Ospina - Bunch, Andrickson.

Cleveland had chosen a strategic 5-5-0 formation. The following players took the field: Freyre - Hook, Zimmerman, Drake, Chartoff, Benner - Mujica, Erwin, Cedillo, Sangiacomo, Paye -.

With 2 minutes gone, Tyrone had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However, Rob Best did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Tyrone created a good opportunity to score 10 minutes into the match when John Andrickson's hooked ball from the left created a scuffle in front of the goal, and the visitors' defenders had a hard time clearing the ball. 35 minutes into the match, the visiting Cleveland made the score 0 - 1 after Maurice Erwin executed a perfect free kick. After 44 minutes, Vern Bunch sent the corner kick right to Joe Maloney who headed it sharply past the keeper. 1 - 1! Tyrone made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in on the right hand side left Michael Mayze completely alone with keeper Estéfano Freyre, who made a spectacular block. It was 1 - 1 at the break. Cleveland enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 52 percent of possession.

55 minutes into the match and the home team took a 2 - 1 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Tyrone was Jairo Ospina. After 63 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Lukas Jones gave the Tyrone supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 1. Confident in their lead, Tyrone's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Cleveland fought on and, after 66 minutes, Donald Benner was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 2 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Javier Mujica's early cross saw the defenders caught out of position and the alert Curtis Paye was able to pounce and roll the ball past the hapless goalkeeper to score for Cleveland. 3 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Cleveland, with 53 percent of the ball.

Tyrone's best player was John Andrickson. However, Lee Hendrix made a disastrous appearance. Cleveland's top performer was clearly Javier Mujica. On the other hand, Ruperto Cedillo's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 3.
