Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 29692 at ALPINE MEADOW today. was the appointed referee with assistance provided by and Erik Mölderkivi. U-20 Byelarus had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. Lineup: Jakimovicz - Kulinkovicz, Hleb, Siankevicz - Kurhan, Tarasczyk, Sabaneev, Kamarouski, Absentenko - Simutenkov, Eremin.

U-20 Kazakhstan tactics involved an interesting 6-2-2 combination. They fielded: Yesimov - Zhulanov, Abdildin, Uchtritz, Akhmetov, Tishkevich, Sarsambayev - Akhmetov, Sarsambayev - Kulbatskiy, Nazarbayev.

U-20 Kazakhstan were relying on their formidable ability to counter-attack. U-20 Byelarus were very close to putting themselves one up after 10 minutes as Artur Eremin got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. 12 minutes into the game, U-20 Kazakhstan seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a wretched level of organisation. They were singing the praises of Maksim Kamarouski 15 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to U-20 Byelarus. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Maksim Kamarouski squirmed through their central defence after 26 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Clever play that showed his experience gave Anton Absentenko a good chance to score, but the shot hit the crossbar. With 35 minutes played, U-20 Byelarus put themselves up 3 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Anton Absentenko, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Confident in their lead, U-20 Byelarus's players relaxed and focused more on defending the lead than increasing it. Felix Tishkevich of U-20 Kazakhstan received a yellow card after 38 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. U-20 Byelarus claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 95 percent.

The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that U-20 Kazakhstan had passable organisation. With 49 minutes played, the excellent ball from the wing by U-20 Byelarus's Aliaksej Kurhan reached Artur Eremin's head, and he is not one to miss such an opportunity - 4 - 0. After 78 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Viktor Simutenkov might have resulted in another goal for U-20 Byelarus. However, Akhmetzhan Yesimov made a spectacular save. 79 minutes into the game, U-20 Kazakhstan seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak level of organisation. 83 minutes in, U-20 Kazakhstan appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only poor. Viktor Simutenkov should probably have put his team up another goal after 88 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Akhmetzhan Yesimov kept the visitors in the game. 89 minutes in, U-20 Kazakhstan's Akhmetzhan Zhulanov received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. U-20 Byelarus had most of the ball, with 97 percent of possession.

The most dominating U-20 Byelarus player was without a doubt Viktar Jakimovicz. Piotr Kulinkovicz was a disappointment, however. The most dominating U-20 Kazakhstan player was without a doubt Serikbolsyn Sarsambayev. Serikbolsyn Akhmetov on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.
