Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Little Highbury saw a crowd turnout of 142882. Anselmo Lunazzi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jukka Kurki and Alwinus Berneth. A 3-5-2 alignment was the formation of choice for Srbija. The following players had been chosen: Ðorđević - Radošević, Simić, Radulović - Anđić , Cukić, Tomić, Cvetković, Ćurković - Spasić, Bakić.

Magyarország tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: Pataki - Dittrich, Vaszil, Lehel - Csicsák, Seletye, Aradszky, Kajtár, Marosits - Fodor, Sisák.

Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Magyarország's János Csicsák somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Péter Sisák, who struck for 0 - 1. Aleksandar Ćurković could have scored for Srbija with his free kick after 17 minutes, but the visitors' keeper just managed to get a hand on it. Csaba Dittrich of Magyarország seemed to be floating in the air as he elegantly headed in to make the score 0 - 2 after a corner kick that was nicely executed by Péter Sisák. With 32 minutes played, Gojko Spasić was very close to reducing the score for Srbija with a low drive from the left, but a defender stuck his foot out just in the nick of time, blocking the shot to a corner. It was 0 - 2 at the break. Magyarország enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

The Srbija coach was desperate to reverse his team's fortunes in the game, and ordered his team to change strategy. The Srbija players listened closely to their manager, as he gave new tactical instructions for the team. Srbija reduced the lead to 1 - 2 with 63 minutes on the clock when Vuk Cukić got the best of a ball floated in from the left. Due to some great work on the right wing Srbija's Predrag Bakić was able to even the score after 72 minutes to make the score 2 - 2. Branimir Simić would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. János Illés entered the game for Srbija as the match clock showed 73 minutes. After 74 minutes, Magyarország's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 81 minutes allowed Kevin Vaszil to score for Magyarország. The scoreboard now read 2 - 3. The home crowd cheered when, after 82 minutes, Péter Sisák's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. The bench was restless, and with 89 minutes passed Srbija's coach gave Boris Trifunović the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Dušan Ðorđević reluctantly left the field. The match ends 2 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to Magyarország, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

The most dominating Srbija player was without a doubt Gojko Spasić. On the other hand, Aleksa Anđić 's play was disheartening. Magyarország's best player was Péter Sisák. Kevin Vaszil on the other hand, had a terrible day.
