Norge 1 - 2 Hrvatska

30481 spectators had come to Hekkeløkka this cloudy day. Joona Ijäs was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Staszek Korulczyk and Mario Alberto Fuencirio. A 5-3-2 alignment was the formation of choice for U-20 Norge. Starters: Farah - Jürgensen, Sundby, Løberg, Løken, Orre - Giske, Ellegaard, Didriksen - Overvik, Ness.

U-20 Hrvatska started off with a 5-2-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Škrbić - Mohorović, Velić, Mirošević, Modrić, Šimurina - Bačarević, Štrublić - Decijar, Brčić, Badurina.

U-20 Hrvatska's Dragan Brčić got himself booked for a foul. Some great play up the middle by U-20 Norge led to a chance for Syver Orre to score after 28 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. U-20 Hrvatska's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing Mihael Decijar to score easily from the right flank for 0 - 1. U-20 Norge's Elias Ellegaard refused to leave the field after injuring his achilles tendon after 38 minutes. 42 minutes in, U-20 Hrvatska appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. U-20 Norge's Syver Orre put his head to a high ball coming in from the right after 43 minutes, but the ball went wide. It was 0 - 1 at the break. U-20 Norge claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 63 percent.

A review of the gameplan helped U-20 Hrvatska get back to a solid organisation when the referee blew his whistle again. The coach of U-20 Hrvatska was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 46 minutes, Mihovil Kapović came on for Srećko Mirošević. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, U-20 Norge's John Didriksen was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 46 minutes. Eilif Sætre was given a chance to change things around. With John Didriksen no longer on the pitch, Leon Giske took over free kick duty. Stipe Badurina of U-20 Hrvatska was able to make an impressive rush past the sluggish Eskil 'Il Maestro' Løken, which resulted in a goal making the score 0 - 2. Borko Štrublić of U-20 Hrvatska was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. 63 minutes into the game, U-20 Hrvatska seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a solid level of organisation. U-20 Norge needed a fresh pair of legs on the field, and after 70 minutes Knut 'Mo' Farah made way for Remi Brekke. U-20 Norge had a brilliant opportunity to reply as Eilif Sætre received a high ball from the right, striking the ball in the air. Only Šime Škrbić's reflexes saved him. 76 minutes into the match, U-20 Norge's Syver Orre collected a ball sent down the right and put it in the back of the net, narrowing the score to 1 - 2. 80 minutes into the game, U-20 Hrvatska seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to passable. No matter how hard he tried, Alf Overvik just couldn't get his shot past the visitors' right side defence after 81 minutes. The bench was restless, and with 86 minutes passed U-20 Norge's coach gave Tor Nystuen the opportunity the player had been hoping for. Fritz Jürgensen reluctantly left the field. Stipe Badurina wanted to play on, but the U-20 Hrvatska coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 87 minutes into the game by Stipe Belin Besek. The match ends 1 - 2. U-20 Norge had most of the ball, with 65 percent of possession.

Remi Brekke performed admirably for U-20 Norge. On the other hand, Syver Orre's play was disheartening. Most important U-20 Hrvatska player was Mihael Decijar. Stipe Belin Besek on the other hand, had a terrible day.
