Colombia 0 - 1 Chile

Clouds darkened the skies at El Reguerón as 16623 spectators turned up for the match. Milán Udvari was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ullrich Petersdorf and Rastislav Kepša. U-20 Colombia tactics involved an interesting 4-3-3 combination. The following players took the field: Ayala - Munévar, Aguillón, Ubaque, Fuentes - Barrera, Schaab, Toro - del Páramo, Briceño, Salazar.

A 4-5-1 alignment was the formation of choice for U-20 Chile. They fielded: Concha - Isla, Ramos, Bustamante, Mahuzier - Bogado, Medel, Santelices, Wechumanke, Saavedra - Martin.

Ancízar Ayala would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. César Augusto Britto entered the game for U-20 Colombia as the match clock showed 1 minutes. U-20 Colombia were pushed back, and had many dangerous counterattacks. An impressive one came 10 minutes into the match, but Alfonso 'el Cacique' Briceño narrowly missed the free kick attempt that was awarded as a result of a foul. After 31 minutes, the U-20 Chile manager redeployed his men. Germán Mahuzier swapped positions with Mauricio 'el Huaso' Isla. As the clock reached 32 minutes, U-20 Chile decided to regroup. Rosamel 'Fierro' Bustamante gave Hipolito Ramos a little pat on the back as they changed positions on the pitch. The U-20 Chile coach adjusted their lineup with 33 minutes gone. Alaya Wechumanke and Gary 'El pitbull' Medel assumed each other's positions. After 36 minutes, the U-20 Chile coach made a sign to Enzo Bogado, who soon changed positions with Juan Manuel Saavedra. 36 minutes into the game, U-20 Colombia seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable level of organisation. With 40 minutes played, Lubín del Páramo of U-20 Colombia fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving. 43 minutes in, U-20 Colombia appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only inadequate. After 44 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as U-20 Chile found themselves out of position and their organisation level dropped to solid. The guests almost went up by a goal after 44 minutes when Rirchard Martin came through and shot from the right. The ball bounced harmlessly off the post, though. It was 0 - 0 at the break. U-20 Chile enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 71 percent of possession.

Despite his frustration resulting in the smashing of a few teacups, the coach of U-20 Colombia was able to get his message across, and raised U-20 Colombia's organisation to solid. The coach gave his players an extra tactical briefing during the break, and after that U-20 Chile had solid organisation. After 46 minutes, the U-20 Chile coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Enzo Bogado off the field. Hiroito Rebolledo took his place. 71 minutes into the game, U-20 Colombia seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate. A foul called during a U-20 Colombia counterattack resulted in a great chance to score, but Alfonso 'el Cacique' Briceño's shot rattled off the post. Mauricio 'el Huaso' Isla got new instructions from the U-20 Chile coach after 75 minutes. He changed positions with Germán Mahuzier soon after. U-20 Colombia's Raúl Barrera had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines, after twisting his ankle with 75 minutes having been played. Eduardo Calimeño was the replacement. Given a free kick close to the byline, U-20 Chile tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Juan Manuel Saavedra slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 1, 77 minutes into the game. 80 minutes into the game, U-20 Colombia had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation dropped to weak. While defending the U-20 Chile lead, Juan Manuel Saavedra got a new role. 81 minutes in the game, his coach ordered him to change positions with Hiroito Rebolledo. Santiago Carlos Salazar of U-20 Colombia received a yellow card after 84 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. As the match clock hit 88 minutes, U-20 Chile regrouped to try and keep their initiative in the game. Rirchard Martin high-fived Lester 'El Chancho' Concha as they swapped positions on the team. The match ends 0 - 1. U-20 Chile claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.

U-20 Colombia's top performer was clearly Alfonso 'el Cacique' Briceño. Santiago Carlos Salazar turned in a dismal performance, however. U-20 Chile's best player was Rosamel 'Fierro' Bustamante. Lester 'El Chancho' Concha was a disappointment, however.
