Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and Nagy Palóc Aréna saw a crowd turnout of 148132. Morten Monrad was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Melitón Albaredo and Maxime Raillard. They fielded: Bulla - Csepeli, Dittrich - Pogány, Skrúcaný, Kajtár, Világos, Marosits - Murza, Diós, Czifra.

The following players took the field: Martín Muñoz - Figueroa, Ruiz, Landín, Bermeo - Landín, Zúñiga, Ventura, George, Sánchez - Cevallos.

Magyarország entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Ecuador, chose to start the game with a 4-5-1 lineup. They were singing the praises of Jordán Diós 4 minutes into the match after his speculative chip from the middle of the penalty box found its way over the visitors' keeper to make the score 1 - 0 to Magyarország. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Vendel Czifra squirmed through their central defence after 17 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Magyarország to 3 - 0 as Zsolt Marosits finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. 28 minutes in, Ecuador's José Luis Figueroa received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Magyarország solidified their lead at the 34 minute mark, as Vendel Czifra dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 4 - 0. In the lead, Magyarország adjusted their style of play with 40 minutes gone. In an effort to secure the lead, Magyarország changed their tactic after 40 minutes. Magyarország increased the lead as Vendel Czifra struck to make the score 5 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. By then Vendel Czifra had scored three goals - a hat trick! After 43 minutes, Jozef Skrúcaný was massaging his left knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. The teams went for the halftime break at 5 - 0. Magyarország claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.

Things were deteriorating for the away team as Magyarország scored another to make it 6 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Jordán Diós after 52 minutes. Gyula Pogány made a nice dash down the wing after 65 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. With 66 minutes played, Magyarország put themselves up 7 - 0 when the visiting defenders lost the ball to Vendel Czifra, who came up from the left and proceeded to coolly round the keeper and knock the ball home. Béla 'Messi' Világos was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Magyarország's Krisztián 'Citrom' Kajtár managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 8 - 0 Jordán Diós could have increased the lead after 78 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. Béla 'Messi' Világos increased the lead for Magyarország to 9 - 0, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! Content with how the game was proceeding, the Magyarország coach let Danko Nikšić replace János Bulla after 80 minutes. It emerged that Gosta Landín had hurt his right foot after 81 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. The player that took his place was Alfonso Padilla. Csaba Dittrich left the field with a smile on his face as he was substituted 85 minutes into the game, as his team was in the lead. Áron Lehel was the replacement. Gyula Pogány wanted to play on, but the Magyarország coach had other ideas, and he was replaced 85 minutes into the game by Gábor Krucsai. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 9 - 0. Magyarország had most of the ball, with 77 percent of possession.

Most important Magyarország player was Vendel Czifra. Béla 'Messi' Világos on the other hand, had a terrible day. Ecuador's top performer was clearly Rigoberto Cevallos. Julián Sánchez turned in a dismal performance, however.
