A scorching day at Ochsenweid Arena, where 26198 spectators were in place for today's match. Hendrik Guettler was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Vincent Bosschaerts and Mathéo Van Valckenborgh. Lineup: Zheleznyak - Demunck, Biazzo, Benítez, Escriva, Gobash - Weijland, Spurr, Cabeza - Roulet, Pizzo.

Starters: Macrini - Geffroy, Autrix, Deichmann, Grünewald, Tranchant - Kondratyuk, Cunningham, Hirner - Arpaia, Todua.

Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 5-3-2 formation. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of FCSZ, taking advantage of their magical level with that tactic. Steinhausen saw most attack opportunities on the wings, taking advantage of their world class level with that tactic. Players in Steinhausen heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their central attacks to the wings instead. 14 minutes of the match played, and a comedy of errors by the home side gave the visitors a chance at the lead, but Michael Hirner, after finding himself dashing down on goal from the left with only the keeper to beat, sliced his shot horribly wide. With 15 minutes gone, a long pass from the defence of FCSZ resulted in a counterattack that set Giorgio Biazzo free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Several players seemed a little dazed by the warm weather, and were repeatedly tricked by the clever and agile Gerard Cunningham. 32 minutes into the game, Artemiy Kondratyuk almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a delicate lob over the keeper, but the ball glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. With the clock showing 33 minutes played, a great pass from the defensive line of FCSZ resulted in a counterattack that was smoothly brought under control by Luis Escriva in the centre of the opposition's penalty area, but his finish went high. FCSZ had to manage with a reduced squad after 34 minutes, as José Bartolomé Cabeza got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. Given a free kick close to the byline, Steinhausen tried a move that loyal fans may recognise from training. A pass to the side pulled the defence out of position which let Gerard Cunningham slip through on goal. He didn't have to break his stride, and slipped the ball past the keeper to make it 0 - 1, 35 minutes into the game. The referee showed FCSZ's Rafaël Weijland the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. François Grünewald could have put his team up another goal 40 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. After 41 minutes FCSZ tried to exploit their counterattacking skills, unfortunately, Jerome Spurr's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Steinhausen, with 60 percent of the ball.

Content with how the game was proceeding, the Steinhausen coach let Nizar Diallo replace Pietro Macrini after 46 minutes. The Steinhausen players could smell victory in the air. Jonathan Geffroy wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for Corvin Pfeiffer after 46 minutes. 57 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 - 2 as Ramaz Todua finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. With the scoreboard showing that 67 minutes had been played, Steinhausen nearly put themselves up another goal after Florent Tranchant came through on the left. Fortunately for the home crowd, the keeper made the save. FCSZ's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 68 minutes gone, but Rafaël Weijland's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. Jerome Spurr didn't pace himself at all, and after a series of daring offensive runs he was too tired to help out in the defensive play. 77 minutes into the game a free kick by François Grünewald found its way through the home side's poorly assembled defensive formation, making Steinhausen's lead 0 - 3. 86 minutes in, Steinhausen's Michael Hirner received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 3. Steinhausen enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 66 percent of possession.

Most important FCSZ player was Aurélien Roulet. However, Vadim Zheleznyak made a disastrous appearance. Amadeo Autrix performed admirably for Steinhausen. Corvin Pfeiffer turned in a dismal performance, however.
