Soluy 1 - 1 Pizza

39520 punters turned up at Soluy Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came. Maurice Clinch was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Renaud Aubry and Margus Talver. The following players had been chosen: Małkus - Colpa, Nettis, Fogelquist - Aparicio, Fabianni, Giraldo, Güáqueta, Castillo - Foreth, Zhevnerov.

Starters: Jaidhauser - Poiret, Joelsson, Appen, Kirchenbauer - Wites, Kusiak, Garaicorta, Cena, Portnyagin - Al Fandy.

Soluy Soccer Club fielded a 3-5-2 lineup. For Pizza de Kiwi FC, the formation of choice was 4-5-1. Soluy saw most attack opportunities on the wings, taking advantage of their formidable level with that tactic. Pizza clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, taking advantage of their magnificent level with that tactic. Soluy's Evgeny Zhevnerov tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but couldn't get past the visitors' defenders. With 8 minutes gone, Symir Cena suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counterattack by Pizza caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. Some great play up the middle by Soluy led to a chance for Karel Foreth to score after 18 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. Karel Foreth was very close to giving Soluy the lead with an ingenious free kick routine 30 minutes into the match, but the ball just grazed the bar. One of many good crosses from William Alberto Aparicio on the wing was received and skillfully taken care of by Karel Foreth, who scored for Soluy. 1 - 0 Soluy's Guido Hernán Fabianni took a knock to the head after 41 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He took a few uneasy steps, but got dizzy and then taken off the field. This gave Martín Emilio Wilches a chance to take to the field instead. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 0. Soluy claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 70 percent.

Coming through the middle Laurent Poiret almost scored the equaliser for Pizza after 65 minutes, but Dominik Małkus made an excellent save, tipping the awkward curled shot past the post. Immanuel Jaidhauser was caught napping as Karel Foreth lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. Having contracted a nasty injury to his right foot, Gabriel Garaicorta had no choice but to leave the pitch, 72 minutes into the match. Lucio Haya de la Torre had already been warming up, and came on for Gabriel Garaicorta. With Gabriel Garaicorta no longer on the pitch, Jerzy Wites became the new set pieces taker. Although the whole team were struggling to impress, Pizza's Andi Appen was singled out as being the problem as he was called off the pitch after 75 minutes. Krzysztof Paszkowski was given a chance to change things around. The referee showed Soluy's Evgeny Zhevnerov the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Jerzy Wites stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving Pizza the goal to make it 1 - 1. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Soluy, with 66 percent of the ball.

Most important Soluy player was Martín Emilio Wilches. Michael Fogelquist on the other hand, had a terrible day. Pizza's top performer was clearly Immanuel Jaidhauser. On the other hand, Symir Cena's play was disheartening.
