Thunder 0 - 3 Pewsum

Weather conditions were fairly good for football, and New York Thunder FC Arena saw a crowd turnout of 13560. Eskild Pilegaard was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Jacobus Hartzuiker and Horacio Gortaire. Fans of both teams had been eagerly awaiting this New York City derby and were doing their best to outshout their opponents. They fielded: Artigas - Morgan, Womack, Oliver, Green - Albert, Jean, Schmidt, Frey - Janzen, McCoy-Washington.

The following players took the field: Dubois - Schofield, Rather, Ocampo - Legg, Huisbauer, Wittenberg, Tate, Ritsos - Leduc, Gregory.

New York Thunder FC started the game in a 4-4-2 formation, whereas TuS Pewsum lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Mike McCoy-Washington made a nice dash down the wing after 27 minutes, but was unable to get the cross into the box. A goal kick was awarded. Pewsum had a magnificent opportunity after 30 minutes as Theunis Wittenberg hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. The referee showed Pewsum's Thimios Ritsos the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvellous free kick after 40 minutes, but Fernando Artigas made a beautiful one-handed save. Gaspard Jean was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 42 minutes. Due to this disastrous turn of events, the team now had to finish the match with a reduced lineup. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when Donnie Ocampo slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against Fernando Artigas, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes. Thunder's Karl Frey was shown a yellow card after 44 minutes for slicing down an opponent. Pewsum had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 44 minutes in when Léon Leduc came up alone against Fernando Artigas who managed a block. Kevin Womack was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his right knee after 44 minutes. It was a critical moment for the team, as there were no substitutes on the bench for the injured player. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 0. Pewsum claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 48 minutes into the match left Pewsum's Ludwig Legg completely free to score. 0 - 1 for the visitors. Pewsum's Gaylord Schofield's long shot really ought to have found the net 62 minutes into the match, but it fell just wide of the target. After 69 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Donnie Ocampo who increased Pewsum's lead to 0 - 2. Ludwig Legg came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over Fernando Artigas but overcooked it and hit the bar instead. 81 minutes in, Thunder's Andre Morgan received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 83 minutes, Pewsum sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Léon Leduc, who had plenty of space to place a well aimed shot - 0 - 3. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 3. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Pewsum, with 69 percent of the ball.

Most important Thunder player was Dusty Schmidt. However, Fernando Artigas made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Pewsum player was without a doubt Cole Gregory. Ludwig Legg on the other hand, had a terrible day.
